This act exposes Bush for what he is. A low down rat with no decency
or sense of proportion whatsoever. May the curse of millions of suffering people the world over rain down on him!

On June 26,1945 the world rejoiced at the announcement that the United Nations had been born from the ashes of WWII.The hopes of billions of people around the world for a peaceful world rode with that announcement.

Today, June 16, 2005, ten days before the 60th anniversary of the birth of the UN, Bush's spokesman announced that neither he nor his Secretary of State, Condi Rice would attend that important event to be attended by everyone else in the world. The official reason given was that they had "prior commitments".The real reason is that they are mad that the UN is not yet their total stooge doing their bidding. So it has to be snubbed and punished with petulant and childish gestures.

The Fuehrer does not yet realize that he is making himself the joke of the world.

1. Lame ducks
can do whatever the hell they like, and screw everything and everybody.

He's his most dangerous now, I think - absolutely nothing to lose.

Oh, and he's already the most hated man in the world, I think.

6. This is scarier than anything I have read in a long time. Now all the
pieces begin to fit together. On 9/11, they took a wish of the Arabs to fly planes into skyscrapers and turned it inside out as a terror act which they could blame on the Arabs. In the case of the UN, an organization and its charter of peace have been turned inside out to create the framework for global domination by the PNAC.And in the ultimate insult of all, the US Constitution has been subverted by a group of power hungry fascists and turned into an instrument of tyranny.

These are times that try men's souls.

3. to the U.N., nothing Bush or his minion can do can be
considered a "snub". You have to have some form of respect for the snubber to be a snubbee.

26 June is a Sunday - either clearing brush in Crawford or biking in MD.

5. Prior commitment.........HAH!
what commitment?.....like flying around the country, wasting fuel that we pay for, just to sign a bill that could take away a husband's rights regarding his brain dead wife?

Gimme a break. Go back to Crawford you freaking idiot.

8. The UN needs to move out of NY
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 02:13 PM by depakid
Geneva or Brussels are much better venues. In fact, the UN needs to slowly cut as many ties to the US as it can. It doesn't make any sense for the UN, as an international body, to be held hostage to the pro-suffering, anti-science religious dogma that holds sway in the US.

If the US doesn't want to meet its commitments- if it wants to remain a rogue nation- defying international law and failing to sign (or simply abrogating) international treaties, then let it. If it wants to withold dues and other financial commitments- OK then.

The world (and the US) would be a much better place if the international community stood against the far right 'values' that pass for policy in this country- and if they're smart- they're looking 20 years ahead at a time of resource depletion where the majority of the American people going to give a rats ass about ANYONE ANYWHERE. They hardly do as it is- just wait'll the petroleum runs low and gets super expensive....

Makes sense from the UN's perspective to build strong alliances and encourage international cooperation among those who recognize that the US isn't going to be anyone's firend come around the 2020-30 decade.

Having some counter balance of power at that point is in everyone's interest- because Americans aren't going to willingly transition into a post cheap-oil world....
