The "media" types are just like us..
Other than the few "super-stars", they have bosses, they have "rules" (actual and implied) and they have mortgages/college loans/car payments/wives/husbands/kids/elderly parents..

They are AFRAID to gamble their health insurance & paychecks away bt being bold.

We are in a new era of journalism. There was a day when "reporters" were told.. "Go cover this story". They investigated, and wrote their story. It was checked for libel, and if the story was truthful and timely, it was printed/broadcast.

Those days are G O N E ...

Put yourselves in their position.. Would YOU go against your boss' orders and risk your paycheck, and the health coverage for your family?

This is why we do not get traction on stories that are "embarrassing" to their parent companies or to the administration that they depend upon for future access.

There are NO independent media sources (of any size/range) any more..

Corporations & government decide what is news and what we see/read/hear..

1. then they should understand why blogs are increasingly popular
We all can understand the fear of losing a job and medical coverage, etc. However, honest journalism is a necessary component of a healthy Democracy. No one ever said it was an easy or safe field to go into. If the majority of journalists can't accept this fact, then I hope they don't become surprised when others begin to do their job for them.

2. Are they afraid to find out what it feels like to be an average American
If they came down from their towers and experienced the normal persons life, maybe they would do a better job. I am not accepting any apologist shit from them. They trade on that fourth estate and watchdogs of democracy stuff, well it put up or shut up time. With all due respect to SoCalDem.

5. Other than the superstars, most do not make that much
and with few other places to go, they are scared.. I'm not "apologizing" for them.. just stating the obvious..and the higher up the ladder they go, the more scared they get..

I agree.. they should find other work, but the rank and file are hogtied by their corporate masters..just like most of us..

3. It's their bosses who are cowards
But not enough of them are standing up and risking it. I know I'll get called a liar, but if that was my job, I'd stand up for principle. I've done it before, and it hurt my career temporarily, but I made it back. They could too - but they're too afraid.

I would only have betrayed my personal values and no one would have known if I didn't stand up for what's right.

They fail to stand up for what's right, and we all see it every day.

4. Then they should understand when they go bankrupt.
Because that's what will happen no matter what, since their lies only cover up the treason.

They may be in their situation, but there are other ways to get around it. They aren't all like Faux News and controlled by the GOP....
