Anybody out there working at a "21st century job of tomorrow"

that chimp gave up talking about 6 months ago? I received a catalog from the local JC the other day, and honestly, the course listings didn't look any different than they did 20 years ago, with the exception of some "outreach to the elderly" informational seminars, so I am still not sure what he was taking about.

I will lend you my several thousand post credibility...no they aren't looking for 'jobs of tomorrow'...they are looking to complain once again. It happens a lot on here.

And I agree...those kind of jobs ain't at any local community college.

Some of us DO think outside the box.

All industries in our economy are undergoing rapid technological upgrades, even the ones you wouldn't think of as 21st century, per se. How many restaurants exist out there that don't use computers, or that don't accept credit cards? Not many... Whether you are looking for a modern career like pharmaceutical rep. or a modernized career like a financial analyst, you're going to have to start with passion, ambition, or need. Dispassionate, unmotivated individuals are never going to be hired for any job until something drives them to shine among the sea of other candidates. The examples you seek are everywhere, if you open your mind and believe in yourself.

6. I have one...I think.

I guess I have one of those "jobs of tomorrow" -- kind of. I'm an analyst for an enterprise software firm, or at least I will be until September (for my last year of school). Definitely nothing that they teach you about in most universities, unless the economics, electrical engineering, political science, comp-sci, and international studies departments want to collaborate.

Bush has NO IDEA what he's talking about! I've learned from my job that US laws are absolutely tepid when it comes to technology regulation and promotion, and that China and India are really up-and-coming so we'd better watch out. If Bush is going to promote "jobs of tomorrow" he might as well set the stage for them. You know, like, promoting science and all that stuff. When I go back to school in the fall I'll be writing my thesis about science as a form of youth culture in the 1920s and 1930s. Totally different from today. Kids wanted to be engineers, radio operators, industrial designers, chemists, etc. -- and not so coincidentally, the government pumped money into science. Now, the US graduates more sports therapists than engineers (or so I've heard, and I don't find it too surprising) and the "majority party" is concerning itself with making sure we all believe in creationism and don't touch those naughty-naughty stem cells.

Sadly, we have a regime which has decidely determined our future: NO MIDDLE CLASS.

Yup. There's even a CIA thingy predicting that the middle-class will die in less than twenty years (sorry I don't have that BS immediately at hand for your perusal).

My response was: "Is that a prediction or a plan."

My intuition is,...it's a plan.
