Exxon hires former White House adviser

Exxon Mobil Corp. confirmed it has hired the former Bush administration official alleged to have changed government documents regarding global warming.

Philip Cooney resigned Friday from his position with the White House Council on Environmental Quality after claims that he edited global warming papers regarding fossil fuel emissions,

The Wall Street Journal said he will join Exxon this fall.

Exxon officials have questioned the role of fossil fuel emissions in global warming. Environmental groups say Exxon's hiring of Cooney shows a link between the oil giant and the administration
