Take a straight edge (ruler, pencil, piece of paper, etc.) and align it here from 5\1\03 to 3\25\04...

Then... align it from 3\25\04 to 5\30\05...

Notice the upturn in rate of death...

Then... if you can... align it along the last couple of months of casualties...

Notice... IT KEEPS GETTING STEEPER!!!

1. But the real total is about 6000
The smaller total doesn't count losses off the battlefield, such as in transport to our medical centers in Germany. I think there's an extensive discussion in another DU thread but can't find my bookmark.
