Bush Jokes About Lack of WMDS in Iraq
The Dreyfuss Report quotes the Washington Post describing President Bush's appearance at last night's Radio-TV Correspondents Association dinner in Washington where he made fun of the fact that we didnt' find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq:

He put up dorky looking pictures of himself. A recurring joke involved photos of the president in awkward positions-bent over as if he's looking under a table, leaning to look out a window-accompanied by remarks such as "Those weapons of mass destruction must be somewhere!" and "Nope, no weapons over there!" and "Maybe under here?"

We're with Dreyfuss who says,

That's funny? I wish the tape of the president cackling about his lies over Iraq could be broadcast on Iraqi TV. And maybe shown to the families of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq.

2. How he could joke about this when people were dying in Iraq

because of his phony crusade "to find the WMDs" is just beyond me.

3. Fahrenheir 9/11
is going to be featured on Showtime. I think that it is important, because people tend to forget how focused the administration was on scaring the heck out of American citizens with WMD threats.

The recent evidence of even republican congressional support for ending the US military occupation in Iraq indicates that the democratic left should step up the anti-war activities. I believe that we need to be militantly non-violent. But the militancy should be on equal footing with the non-violence.

The president could be seen bending over to peer at the floor of the Oval Office

~snip~

US President George W Bush has sparked a political row by making a joke about the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

At a black-tie dinner for journalists, Mr Bush narrated a slide show poking fun at himself and other members of his administration.

One pictured Mr Bush looking under a piece of furniture in the Oval Office, at which the president remarked: "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be here somewhere."

After another one, showing him scouring the corner of a room, Mr Bush said: "No, no weapons over there," he said.

6. tasteless and ill-judged
The audience at Wednesday's 60th annual dinner of the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association obviously thought the quips hilarious - there were laughs all round - but the next morning, in the cold light of day, things looked far less amusing.

The joke about the fruitless search for Iraqi WMDs so far, Washington's prime justification for the US-led invasion, has been branded as tasteless and ill-judged.

5. I don't understand why that clip wasn't used in Kerry's campaign
It shows utter contempt for the soldiers put in harms way for no reason. It shows Smirk's complete and utter lack of maturity and shows that he knows he does not expect to be held responsible for his fuck ups.

Also the clip of Bush during the debate, lying through his teeth about his comments that he doesn't really care about where Usama bin Laden was anymore.

10. This might be a poor analogy
but it was like having Muhammad Ali in the boxing ring, and having him not use his left jab. It is the punch he uses to score points, confuse his opponent, and to set up his harder punches. I thought it was the single worst decision that the Kerry campaign made. Like John Lennon said, "A conspiracy of silence speaks louder than words."

18. Because if Kerry used his ammo then
and if he had become President or went to court to fight the election, Bu$hCo wouldn't be imploding right now.

The M$M would have would have focused all their hateful distractions on Kerry and we would be watching the bimbo parade instead.

Now that Bu$hCo owns the whole enchilada, the M$M has no choice but to begin to cover these enormous scandals or look like totally complicit fools when they don't.

If George W. Bush wants to poke fun at himself, lets start with knowing the names of world leaders. Using more than one syllable words when talking without a prepared speech. Going AWOL from the Air National Guard and being unable to find anyone that saw you serving. He could make fun of all the substances he abused in his life that has obviously caused serious brain damage. I could go on and on, but the point being is there is more than enough material for Bush to use in making fun of himself that he doesn’t have to involve subject matter that has cost the lives of almost 600 Americans because of this lies.

We don’t wont to leave Uncle Al out of this one. Al Sharpton said the joke were "one of the most despicable acts of a sitting president'' when he spoke Thursday night at a Democratic National Committee reception. Al Sharpton went on to say, "Well, that's not a joke to us, Mr. Bush. Five hundred soldiers lost their lives, looking for weapons that weren't there. Billions of taxpayer dollars were spent looking for weapons that weren't there. But guess what? You gonna look out that window in January and see a moving van to send you back to Texas.''

Terry McAuliffe said nearly 600 U.S. soldiers have died since the war began. He was quoted as saying, "They're not there. That is the issue. We should not take it to a new step to make fun of the situation.''

and how foolish the public (or some of it) was to believe his "hunt." Arrogant jerk.

He is famous for his alleged "self-depreciating" humor - but as this indicates - I think it is more that his "self-depreciating" humor is about mocking those who believe in his schtick.

You must be very, very proud of him. I am so sorry, so very sorry about his deployment. I would be out of my mind, too. That's your daughter in the photo? She'll need a lot of comfort. I had a lot of emotional problems when my brother went to Vietnam. Didn't realize it at the time, but I was "acting out," as people now would say.

On the OP topic, a friend and I were discussing that horrid slide show and the people laughing. He said (and he should know, because he's very politically savvy and cynical), "Of course they were laughing. It's an inside joke. All of them knew all along there were no WMD."

I knew it without inside information. Those bastards. What gives them the right to laugh at the deaths of so many tens of thousands, including the soldiers who are in Iraq under the guise of protecting the sorry asses of those who dare to laugh. bush really displayed his utter contempt for those who serve when he made that slideshow.

I will keep you and your son (and daughter) in my prayers, Binka.

edit my spelling

31. He Is A Rock Solid "Good Guy"
He'd give you the shirt off his back and insist you take his shoes as well. He gave away every penny he had to the Maori family who befriended him in New Zealand when his American friends turned into complete assholes.

He is my first and I was two years younger when I had him at 22 then he is now. We are so close but he is keeping me at a distance these days, I know they are telling them to make space with loved ones. It is really hurting me.

And he is gorgeous Straight Shooter 6-2 and a lean 195. His eyes are green and his hair is auburn. How dare these lying murderous thieves send him into the depths of hell. If ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING happens to my Benjamin Elliot Summers you guys are gonna see me on the TV and hear me from the rooftop speaking out.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone!
