How much longer is BushCo going to get away with torture and murder?
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 09:47 AM by Cyrano
What's it going to take before the dittoheads, morons, rednecks and other brain-dead specimens in this country wake up to the fact that we are being governed by war criminals?

I'm approaching the point where it's almost impossible to read a newspaper, or even read about Bush/Cheney/Rove/Rumsfeld et al, on line.

We know for a fact that these people will never be brought to justice. But what's mind boggling is how many people in this country either can't or won't see the crimes that are being committed in our name. And this doesn't even start to cover the domestic crimes they've committed against the Constitution.

If the thugs manage to hold onto the congress next year, (with the help of Diebold), I'm outta here. Canada, Sweden, Holland: It doesn't matter. Anywhere but here. Not that I'm in a great enough financial situation to flee. But neither were those who fled Europe in the late '30s before it was too late.

And for anyone getting ready to call me paranoid, maybe I am. But it doesn't mean I'm wrong.

2. They already know
They know that they're war criminals, by definition. The problem is not only do they not care, they actually like what they're doing. Most of these people would probably just rather we nuke the whole region and turn it into glass.

3. sometimes paranoia is justified....
I was on another board a while back, saying that I thought there would be abuses at Gitmo because there was no oversight (yea, I know, I'm a genius). A republican on that board posted a picture from "signs" with Mel Gibson's children wearing tin foil hats.

to which I replied:

interesting choice! Those children were wearing tinfoil hats because they were afraid of being invaded by aliens. Guess what? They were invaded by aliens.

5. And you're suggesting that we... what?
By the time fascists gain the amount of control that BushCo has, it's too late. We have only two choices: Vote them out, (assuming we can get an election that's not fixed), or leave the country.

Any third choice you may have in mind will get you sent to either Gitmo or the cemetery. Forget it.

11. Download this Impeachment Kit, and Wake up the yokels
http://elandslide.org/elandslide/images/impeachcentralkit.pdf

http://www.impeachcentral.com/

How To Conduct A Letter-Writing Campaign

A Supplement To The Impeachcentral.Com "Impeachment Kit"

1. What to have on hand:

* blank white computer paper
* clipboards, pens
* "sample letter to the congressperson" (from IMPEACHMENT KIT, on Impeach Central.com website)HAVE APPROX. 10 OR SO COPIES
* a blown-up, laminated "letter to the congressperson", for use to attract public attention
* flyers, with someone's email adress on them for tracking (optional)
* 2 to 3 people (max. needed for any one location.)
* a list of congressional representatives within approx. a 50 mile radius (an idea of where a congressperson's district is located)
* an ironing board (you'll get used to this approach quickly; it doesn't look as dumb as you imagine.)(or)
* a folding table with 2 or more chairs (for events, and also for letter-writers to sit in while they write.)
* a volunteer sign up sheet (optional)

2. What to say to the public:

Something like.........HI, would you like to help get rid of Bush & Cheney?

We have a national grassroots campaign to put pressure on our reps. to : introduce a bill of impeachment, (or) introduce a resolution of inquiry, (or) co-sponsor a bill of impeachment, (or) ask for an investigation into possible impeachable offenses.

Say, "It will only take you 5 minutes to write a letter, and each hand- written letter is worth several hundred other letters that aren't written." (This is a fact based on lobbying research.)

3. The collection process:

Each clipboard needs to have some white paper and a sample letter to the congressperson placed on top for reference viewing. Make certain that a diagonal line is slashed down the center of the letter and the words, "Do not date" is written on it somewhere. (This is to ensure that the constituents don't write on the sample letter and don't date date it either.)

Say, "We'd really prefer that you write this in your own handwriting; the district office will be more likely to read it. It can be 1 or 2 lines or as long as you want." If they don't feel they can compose some- thing, tell them that they can copy the sample letter verbatim. Least effective, but acceptable, is filling in a sample letter that you keep out of sight except for these instances.

After they've finished their letter, make sure that they've signed their legal name and printed it with their full mailing address. If they're not absolutely certain who their rep. is, tell them to leave the "Dear representative xxxxxxxxxx" space blank. With their address you can find it later.

VERY IMPORTANT: THEY NEED TO LEAVE THE LETTER WITH YOU!! This is so that each week you can date the letters and mail them to congressional district offices to which they're addressed. (Mail them in groups of 12 to 20 each week.) Optional: Make a copy of each letter to save for P.R. purposes later on. Someone can do the copying/mail- outs.

4. Miscellaneous information:

There are many good places to conduct the letter-writing campaign. 2 hours a week (Saturdays are great) is all it takes to get the job done. Using the above method, you can collect as many as 50 letters in a 2 hour period of time.

Farmers markets, shopping districts, events--- any place with a high volume of foot traffic is all it takes. Especially with summer weather allowing more people to be outdoors, your task is made easier.

The first time you go out, you may feel a little uncomfortable, but after people come up to you, and thank you for giving them an opportunity to say what they feel in their hearts, you will feel more at ease.

Impeachcentral.com is hoping to put out a bi-monthly newsletter that will focus on impeachment activities around the country, both local and national. If you, your fellow impeachment activists, and letter- writing constituents are interested in receiving this newsletter, you can simply go to www.impeachcentral.com, scroll down to "SUBSCRIBE", and fill in the appropriate info.

5. Summing things up:

By now, you all know the major evidence for impeaching this president; so does Congress. Cheney and other civil officers can be impeached as well. It's really not about anything other than politics. Our Democratic representatives need to summon the courage and the will to accomplish this mission.

If Kerry should lose this election, there needs to be a "PLAN B" in place & that plan is our impeachment movement. We have been told by a few representatives that a groundswell in their districts is needed. Constituents writing letters can aid in this process.

There is no easy road to impeaching these criminals. And there is no pat answer that you can give to assuage the public's views of why impeach- ment shouldn't be happening now. There will be many people who want to write these letters without a huge amount of persuasion. Focus mainly on them. You can actually have a good time out there.
