AOL's "Greatest American" homepage. A picture of Bush next to Einstein!!!
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 02:16 PM by Cyrano
Help! The Matrix has me and I'm waiting for Morpheus to free my mind.

What sane person could put a picture of Bush and Albert Einstein in the same frame and then put the word "greatest" on the page.

For the time being, I'm going to assume that what I saw wasn't reality, but a moment of insanity. If any of you are using AOL, check out the homepage and let me know if I'm losing it. I, for one, am terrified to return there in case that image still exists. Another glimpse of it would send me screaming out the door and I'd end up in a straight jacket.

4. But I can tell you that Bush has a better brain than Einstein because
Bush's brain has never been used. Doesn't that make him worthy of comparison with the greatest scientis in the history of humanity?

I think so.

8. Einstein can't think as well as Bush
...but only because he's dead.

Of course, there is mounting evidence that Bush is dead from the neck-up.

10. Proof of evolution
The greatest mind humanity has seen in a century compared to a neanderthal. This has to be a joke?

11. Why are you even using AOL? They're not even an Internet Service
Provider, they're a Content Provider. They don't even give you full access to the internet.

When my company first developed an online interface program for our customers, the ONLY provider we had problems with was AOL. None of our AOL customers could use our website. AOL would offer no support or help, so eventually those customers had to switch providers.

12. Certainly represents the extremes in the "greatest" spectrum.
"greatest idiot" vs "greatest scientific mind"?

No person in his or her right mind would do such a thing unless it was a joke. But I keep forgetting that since 2000 we've been living in bizarro world.

16. Welcome to DU Ishoutandscream2.
If you're using AOL, the picture that I saw would make any sentint being on this planet (or even on the Enterprise) scream and then check into sick bay.

I'm still trying to comprehend how any AOL editor could have been that brain-dead, uncomprehending, clueless, unconsciece, out-of-the-loop, or just plain stupid.

20. I have to admit, aside from Bush, their top 25 is pretty good
You could quibble with certain things, but overall, they really have a good list of people--men and women, white and black, politics, sports, inventions and the arts. And I'm surprised that Clinton is also on the list that high, compared to Harry Truman. (I'm a fan of Clinton's, but not sure he deserves Top 25; however, it balances out Bush Jr.)
