Church Sexual Abuse
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 07:08 PM by ls317
CHICAGO (AP) -- The nation's Roman Catholic bishops agreed Friday to a five-year extension on their unprecedented policy of permanently barring sexually abusive clergy from church work.

The overwhelming vote by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops means the American church will stick with the main points of the policy it adopted in 2002 at the height of crisis brought on by molesters in the priesthood. The Vatican is expected to approve the extension.

1. Well not quite....
As stated in the article,

"In other revisions, the definition of sex abuse was changed to link it directly to the Sixth Commandment against adultery, which is interpreted as condemning any sexual activity outside marriage."

So there you have it sportsfans, buggering a kid is equal to adultery in the Roman Catholic Church. One can only assume that adultery is then equal to raping, fondling or otherwise molesting a kid. So for those of you who belong to the catholic church and have an affair, well, you are now on a par with sex offenders.

Make sense? No, of course not. This is, afterall, an act that was created by Bishops who willfully and secretly shuttled perpetrators all over the country to abuse whatever kids they could get their hands on.

Think the Bishops "get it" yet?

Stay tuned, 20 years hence, they will all go round agian.

2. Too little, too late.
The priesthood is a tarnished vocation. No one will ever trust their children with a priest again. Not because the majority of priests are pedophiles- they are not- but because they covered the crimes and acted as though they were not subject to civil law.

It will take them centuries to get over this, if they do at all.
