4. It's not the first time Milbank has been snarky and demeaning
see this thread

So, Milbank is interjecting his bias in his reportage consistently. I tried to find the article on "playing house" on the WP website yesterday and boy, is it buried now. As the link above shows, Milbank is definitely committed to being an apologist for the DSM.

6. Here is my letter and some useful tools I found

Here are two very useful sites to help. Remember try to calm down before your write. A factually based case and polite tone will be taken much more seriously.

Here are two website that give a lot of supporting data specifically in regards to the Washington Post and Milbank's article;

Here is my letter:

Dear Sir/Madam:

On June 8, Washington Post reporter Dana Milbank referred to media activists as "Wingnuts" for suggesting that the media has not properly held accountable the Bush Administration for possibly deceiving the American people. Today, June 17, 2005 Mr. Milbank mocked and ridiculed one of the U.S. House of Representatives most distinguished statesman for having the gall to challenge the White House’s line and the Republican Party’s uncompromising control over the investigative responsibilities of Congress.

Now let me say that if this article was just one of many articles expressing a range of opinions, I would have little complaint. However, is it not unseemly that two of the very few pieces run by one of the world’s leading newspapers about a matter of such grave importance consist of insults, name-calling and personal nastiness? Do facts matter any more?

Is it not disconcerting that the whole question of whether or not the Bush Administration deceived the American Congress, media and people on an issue of such grave importance has received so very little attention in the Washington Post?

Am I incorrect if I read between the lines that the general attitude of your newspaper is, “Yah-yah--we know Bush fixed intelligence. That’s not news.” Well, I would suggest that perhaps it might be news to many people.

I do hope that the Post will commit itself to a thorough, independent and in-depth investigation of its own on the whole question of the Bush Administrations possible manipulation of intelligence. If it is true that the White House intentionally misled the nation--should not the Washington Post of all papers be leading the journalistic world in investigating this matter?

Sincerely,

7. Great Letter. Here is mine
I always play dumb so they don't think I am an activist.

Dear Editor,

The Downing Street Memo recently caught my attention after a friend pointed it out to me in a yahoo article. Based on the track record of this administration the Memo's contents seem to be very consistent with a track record of deceit, lies, arrogance and bullying. I remember Wes Clark, John O'Neil and Richard Clark ALL saying that the Bush administration had made up it's mind to go to war with Iraq. I have no doubt in my mind that the contents of the Memo or Minutes are 100% correct. Almost 2,000 beautiful young men and women have been killed in Iraq and perhaps 20,000 have been maimed for life. Ten's of thousands of Iraq's have been killed and we have spent hundreds of billions of American tax dollars on this disaster! The war seems to be getting worse and our image around the world is deeply tarnished.

Lying to Congress and the American People and tricking us into going to an unnecessary War is in my opinion the worst of all crimes anyone could commit. It's the innocent troops who have been taken advantage of more than anyone. No one should ever be lied to when it comes to taking a country into War. I am flaming mad about this!!!!

Milbanks article was written in a sarcastic, childish manor and I was not the least bit impressed. I think you need to look for an adult to take her/his place. These are SERIOUS matters and need to be treated as such! And when will this start to get the attention it deserves? You all need to get to work and forget about Michael Jackson!
