"gov't is run by a bunch of gun-toting hillbillies"
Channel surfing this morning and landed on Washington Journal on C-Span:

caller about 6:20 cdt evidently doesn't support the current administration on Gitmo, as he stated several times that the government now is run by a bunch of gun-totin' hillbillies and out of control!!

15. One of my favorite phrases
pig fuckers, that is. It conveys just the right amount of contempt I feel for some of these people. But be careful with it's usage--it's not always appreciated when sent to the family email distribution list, as I once found out.

16. yes
it's one of my personal favorites as well. I believe its an HST quote.

I know one must be careful in one's usage of it, it's caused me some problems in the past. which is a great thing:)

12. "hearts and minds"
...now there's an original expression!

Dean's comments on White Christians actually had many Republicans who AREN'T closely tied to the RW Christo-fascists questioning their allegiance. They did this "framing" effectively for years with the Dems - it's inflammatory, but it sticks in people's heads. A lot of people don't want to be part of something backwards or unpopular - it's human nature for many...

5. they are Highly educated mentally ill Amoral Straussian Fascists
it is an Insult to Hillbillies even in TN where i live... to associate the Fascist Murders in the capital with down to earth uneducated folks.

Link> http://www.alternet.org/story/15935 you have to enter the number in the the search box upper right to get to the story.. i lost the address bar on my screen

just go to Wikipedia or simply type in Strauss.. it is important to understand him.. several of the NEOCON leaders aactually studied under that madman.. they believe in a government based on perpetual lies and beligerance. the underclass is used to gain power and wealth , we are not human and our suffering and lives are meaningless to them.. other than to use as slaves.

This country is not being run by poor, ignorant "gun-totin' hillbillies" but by men born to wealth and educated at Ivy League schools. It is an insult to hillbillies -- not to mention a misleading perpetuation of a stereotype -- to associate anyone in the Bushreich with hillbillies. The Bushies like to pose as "common folk" when the fact is they are a hateful clan of Connecticut millionaires who attended Harvard and Yale and whose family legacy (ie, wealth and corruption) was secured when Grandpa made his fortune dealing with the Nazis.

Any self-respecting hillbilly would rather lick the dirt off a mule's backside rather than break bread with that lying, deceitful bunch of charlatans!

8. What I hope will be taken as a genuine, non-vicious question..
What is the definition of hillbilly? When I hear it I just think of that silly TV show, but it clearly resonates violently with a lot of people. Is is taken as a slap against people who haven't had much in the way of educational opportunities? Or is it a slap at people who haven't bothered to educate themselves? It's not a racial slur is it? Is it some other kind of slur about something "born in" that people have no control over?

(really curious)

10. He doesn't know hillbillies
but that's okay. Hillbillies wouldn't give tax breaks to the rich or send poor kids off to die. The hillbillies in Grundy County Tennessee - the most feared county IN Tennessee - voted for Gore and Kerry.

Most of the hillbillies I know hate B*sh more than anyone on DU, because they are some of the last people in America to be considered for social programs and jobs- they truly are forgotten.

The country is run by Fascists who wouldn't know how to load a weapon - they let others tote the guns for them....

A Hillbilly has Spoken
