Okay, I don't normally watch this kind of stuff, but.....(700 Club) yuck!

Last night my husband and I were watching T.V. in our room and we couldn't find the T.V. controller. We were busy, :blush:, and not paying attention to what was on the tube. Then all the sudden I hear something to the effect of--They think your stupid. So, I turned around to look at the T.V. set to see what was going on. It was the 700 club, so I got out of bed to walk across the room to shut the T.V. off. Before I could get to it a "newscast" done by The 700 club started in about how Republicans are the party of values, and the people that are not voting right now in elections are politically homeless, and what the Republican Party is going to do to get those votes. It then went on to promote a book called- They think your stupid.- Then went on to explain that these voters have been left behind by the two party system and Republicans were going to start courting these voters. It was a 20 minute Democratic bash fest. It was appalling. All it talked about was how Democrats are godless heathens (my words) and the Republicans have the moral fortitude to win for years to come. The show really angered me. 1. Is the 700 club allowed to say things like that under the guise of religion? 2. It looks like they are already gearing up to explain how the GOP will win in 2006. They say that they are going to pick up the voters that have never voted before, and that will bring them victory in 2006. I can see them pulling this strategy, it's sooo Rove. Remember last year they say they won because of the evangelicals that turned out. I bet the plan in 2006 will be them claiming they got the vote, because they got all these people that have never voted before. I swear it sounded like they were already explaining why the 2006 exit polls would be off.

Oh, and in case your wondering they claim we are losing our base because we are "unfaithful" and God is turning his back on us. No joke. What assholes.

However, this was way over the top. I have never seen so much democratic bashing in my life. It was sooooo over the top. Not a kind word was said about our party. Not one nice word. They said that we are losing our base, because we are unfaithful, and that was what we got for turning our back on God. I'm not kidding, it was that bad. Who does one go to, to get the ball rolling on this kind of issue? Media Matters? I.R.S? Something has to be done.

Justice Sunday-Stopping the Filibuster Against the People of Faith, was hosted by the Family Research Council and Focus on the Family Action.

The event, conducted in churches across the nation via live simulcast, was held to rally the right-wing base of the Republican Party and put an end to the filibuster that is preventing the nomination of President Bush's judicial nominees.

If ever an event stoked the fire for the end of the tax exemption extended to religious organizations in the U.S., then this would be it. This right-wing Sanhedrin whipped its mob of followers into an orgasmic frenzy on Sunday. With statements like the following by Focus on the Family's James Dobson, it is crystal clear where this religious huckster's political loyalties lie:

"What we have witnessed these last three years is an unprecedented manhandling of Senate tradition," said Dr. James C. Dobson, chairman of Focus Action. "Never before in 216 years has the Senate employed a filibuster against judicial nominees who clearly have enough support to be confirmed. Senate Democrats are not just filibustering these nominees-they are filibustering democracy itself."

6. It really is so obvious to those that are on the outside looking in...

I have a some siblings that believe this crap 100%....I have tried to show them that this is an immoral administration that claim to be moral as they continue to lie and mislead. It is a sad thing to witness.... loved ones being lead by charlitines... political and religious.

7. A once thoughtful environmentalist friend

of mine was totally taken in by the 700 Club's propaganda regarding the "attack" against Christmas last December. He actually sent out Christmas cards that had a message that said if the ACLU had its way, even sending XMAS cards through the US Mail would be against the law. Since then he's a differnet person who now claims that all muslims are enemies of the US and should be deported. He's a father of three who works a dead end factory job who has been brainwashed into believing that democrats and progressives are the real problem, even responsible for the destruction of the environment because they don't oppose the repug agenda. This is not Kansas, but blue state NY. My friend is not a hard core fundie, but a "going through the motions" catholic. He has also lost his ability to have a rational discourse on any subject that matters. Is what happened in Kansas happening on a grand scale across the US? It makes me shudder.

but she actually watches this crap. Her husband is a trial attorney, and they are both lefties, but she still watches. We are the only lefties in the family, and I get so aggravated with her when she starts talking up right wing propaganda. The rest of my family is super conservative, and they hate this administration, but it's hard to keep them in check when she is constantly spewing right wing talking points. It's like she does not even know that she is doing it. It's so frustrating, it's like no matter how much she hates Bush, she still watches Fox news and The 700 Club. It's almost like an addiction of some sort. I've always hated Fox, but this was the first time I actually viewed The 700 Club for myself. It's every bit of bad as Fox, if not worse.
