5. Done. Here's my message:
I believe in the Constitution.

I believe that we, as a nation, need to provide for the common defense of our Republic.

Through my taxes and my gratitude to those who serve in the armed forces, I support the troops.

The issue here isn't about supporting or not supporting the troops, however. It's about the militaristic ideology and, even more egregious, the lies and deception that have needlessly put our troops in harm's way.

1,720 American men and women are now dead (53 so far this month, two of them killed today). Tens of thousands are wounded. Countless thousands of Iraqi civilians are dead or suffering. The Iraqi insurgency is growing and there are rumblings about civil war erupting.

The recent British minutes and memos indicate that this carnage was not necessary in terms of providing for our common defense as a nation. It's the result of a cynical PR campaign designed to deceive, manipulate, and exploit our post-9/11 fears and concerns for political gain and corporate profit.

White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, talking about the White House's effort to convince the American people of the need to invade Iraq, said: "From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August."

Despite Card's despicable allusion to war as a product that needs to be marketed like a new line of cars or toilet paper, war is a deadly serious matter. Our government is not a Madison Avenue marketing firm and it shouldn't operate like one, especially when we as a nation are determining whether our troops should be sent into combat.

These minutes and memos indicate to me that Bush's "marketing" of this "product" was worse than just PR spin: it was outright fraud. A serious Congressional investigation is necessary to determine the extent to which Congress, we as American citizens, and the rest of the world were deceived by the Bush Administration into invading another country without just cause.

Those loved ones of the 1700 "consumers" who came home from Iraq in flag-draped coffins are entitled to know the truth, as are the rest of us.

6. "I urge Congress to adopt this Resolution of Inquiry:"--so this is about

the resolution of Inquiry--I get mixed up sometimes.

Urge Congress to Investigate Bush's Iraq War Lies

I urge Congress to adopt this Resolution of Inquiry: Whereas considerable evidence has emerged that George W. Bush, President of the United States, has engaged in a conspiracy to deceive and mislead the United States Congress and the American people as to the basis for taking the nation into war against Iraq, that George W. Bush, President of the United States, has manipulated intelligence so as to allege falsely a national security threat posed to the United States by Iraq, and that George W. Bush, President of the United States, has committed a felony by submitting a false report to the United States Congress on the reasons for launching a first-strike invasion of Iraq: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the Committee on the Judiciary is directed to investigate and report to the House of Representatives whether sufficient grounds exist to impeach George W. Bush, President of the United States. Upon completion of such investigation, that Committee shall report thereto, including, if the Committee so determines, articles of impeachment....

14. Have it on my blog also - they have several petitions!
I have also been sending this to media and to the 'target' of course:

We the people demand our right to know the facts.

Dear Mr. George Bush;

We the people, have a right to know the truth.

We want you to answer the questions by the Hon. Rep. Conyers and 89 other members of congress, concerning the Blair/ Downing Street memo, your plans for the invasion of Iraq, and the actions you took to distort information, in order to advance your preconceived agenda.

We want to know why Scott McClellan your press secretary, blamed Newsweek magazine, for the actions of policemen in Iraq shooting and killing 15 protesters. Military officials appear to refute your claims, that a statement in the magazine referring to an investigation, of possible disrespect, and inappropriate behavior of an interrogator resulted in this violence.

We want to know who planned this course of action, apparently to further intimidate our media. As a democracy a free and non-partisan media is critical.

We further implore you to encourage unencumbered, investigations into the anomalies of the 2004 presidential elections. Please allow the investigators to examine the vast amount of documentation by voter's rights groups and University professors.

Please make a public statement encourage the media to explore this documentation and report it, without concern of retribution from your administration. We can not have real voter reform, nor restore faith in our democracy without a free press and fair elections.

Thank you,

Jacalyn

I also have a similar post in GD-Politics, and someone recommended that DU creates their own Take Action Link to make it easier for all to participate. I just wrote to the Administrators at DU about it.

20. Here's my letter:
My heart breaks everyday to see the dark cloud of corruption that has enveloped our once proud Republic. My heart breaks everyday to know that the brave men & women of our military have needlessly been placed in harms way, over 1700 dead & many thousands severly injured. Those who don those uniforms do so with pride & willingness to protect & defend our Nation, just as I & several members have my family have done in the past. It is abhorrent to know that our brave military is being misused/abused for anything less than a noble cause; and let me be clear, there is nothing noble about war-profiteering.

Please, I beg you to protect our Constitution, and to protect our men & women in the military by holding this Administration accountable for their actions.
