that the local newspaper--one of my father's only sources of news--has left him woefully ignorant of the DSM and other issues. There's a few things he's been made aware of, but, in general, its coverage of real issues has been pretty lame.
So I sent a LTTE. Don't know if they'll publish it, but it's worth a try. I was wondering if it might have an impact if others--non-locals even--would send letters gently chiding the paper for its lack of coverage.
I know I'D sure appreciate it.
Text to my LTTE to the Tacoma News Tribune (www.tribnet.com) follows...
What are the chances that the TNT will ever get around to vindicating the anti-war protesters who got such short shrift in the mainstream media last time around?
They were right. This war WAS illegal, and the product of deceit and propaganda on the part of this administration. The "Downing Street Memo" and other leaked documents clearly reveal that the British government knew the score. Not only was the war questionable at best, but the Bush Administration had no solid plan for the aftermath of the invasion.
This paper, along with many others, should be covering the DSM forums being held by Rep. John Conyers--who has been forbidden to hold them in the capitol building itself by the Republican Leadership.
The people deserve to know what's been done in their name.
*edited to add my LTTE text and the URL of the News Tribune.
