"Commuter warriors" in Tokyo - how to battle for a seat
New bible for Tokyo commuters
19/06/2005

"Commuter warriors" in Tokyo are taking guidance from a top-selling new book to help them win the battle for a seat on the city's packed trains each morning, Reuters reports.

The 185- page publication, entitled "The Art of Grabbing a Seat on Commuter Trains", is filled with diagrams and top tips on how to seize a seat on the train as quickly as possible.

Advice includes looking out for women touching up their make-up and never standing in front of anyone who is asleep if you are hoping to get
a seat.

"It's time to despair when you see people slumped back in their seats as if fallen there," the book advises.
