I think the definition serves the right cause's case........

Stem cells are primal, undifferentiated cells which have the unique potential to produce any kind of cell in the body. Medical researchers believe stem cells have the potential to change the face of human disease by being used to repair specific tissues or to grow organs.

Everybody is for this, except the President of the United States. The bipartisan support derives from Born again Christians, liberals, Catholics, Atheists, pro-life, conservatives, Agnostics, Evangelicals, pro-choice, fundamental Christians, Jews... so why not invest in science? Why not take advantage of what God has blessed us with-- the obvious ability to cure and heal the sick. 74% of America backs embryonic stem cell research. But a stroke of a pen looks to stand in the way of the cure of millions and millions of Americans.

Yes, an embryo and a brain dead woman are more important than the lives of our sons and daughters serving in Iraq.

2. in regard to twins....

Someone here posted last week about the phenomenon of identical twins. There is a point in development that the blastocyte divides and becomes two complete entities. It doesn't happen at conception, or even (I think) by implantation.

The question is, which one of the Bush Twins is the snowflake, and which one is just the flake?

3. As much as I generally despise Orrin Hatch, I give him a lot of credit

for educating himself on this subject. Most of the hysteria on the right is from sentimentalists and theorists who have simply not done their homework and have not found out why so many extra blastocysts are created, how long they can last in storage, what the implantation rate really is, and why so many will go out with the garbage unless stem cell research is fully funded in this country.

Now if this will only spur his continued education in reproductive issues, we may end up with a Senator who knows what he's talking about on a variety of issues.
