Micahel Powell Washington Post: DSM is Important BUT
I got an email from Michael Powell about the DSM,he seems to think the DSM is an important story, BUT wont cover it, I know hes just the New York Bureau Chief but this story should be one that all Journos want to cover.

Michael Powell message to me.

Dear Mr. Dale,

It is an important story. I however have nothing to do with covering this issue, as I cover the northeast part of the United States.

Michael Powell
New York Bureau Chief

5. 100% of people in NE were LIED to - report that!
What the fuck to people in the North East of the US think about being lied to about war? As in, all 100% of the people in the north east?

So, Mr. Dale, do you do reporting for the 0.0000001% who weren't lied to? (that's Bush insiders, and aparently, Tony Blair and some of his cabinet). Or, Mr. Dale, do you do reporting for the 99.999999% who were lied to by the President?

6. If he is not assigned the story, what can he do?
I'm a journalist. I fight for the stories I want, but if someone else gets that story, what can I do? In this case, he is right. The guy with DC sources should cover it. The problem is, the DC guy is some careerist who has to balance his cocktail party invitations against telling the truth.

7. Can he write about why he CAN'T write about it?
Why for instance, the assignment is given to someone who is not covering/addressing all the views of the public? Can he write about how all aspects of this war affect everyone of us, therefore, at least more writers should be able to cover the story?

What can he write about? Can he write about how he wants to write about certain things, but he's not allowed?

I guess where I'm leading to, is ...why can't he write about it at ALL????? Aren't there ways around this if he really wanted to write about it? It just sounds like a cop out to me, maybe because of the way he responded without any show of concern.

Always wanting to learn here.

9. i'm not a journalist so maybe you can clarify something for me.
so he has to fight for the stories. ok. and the DSM story is given to the DC shmuck. the DC shmuck goes mum on the story. Why can't he write about it after giving the DC guy time to do the story? IF the DC guy snoozes, shouldn't he lose?

8. Could he not have bothered to direct you to the one who is responsible?
That is one of the most absolutely asinine weak responses I have ever heard.

"Sorry, not my job." :wtf:
