... for a host of reasons. One, too expensive. Two, requires too much expertise to carry off which the average jihadi terrorists do not have. Three, any significant attack on American soil will be significant in its effects, so why not go with cheap and reliable and effective? That's what was done the last time.

The next time, it won't have to kill thousands, just dozens to hundreds to get the war hysteria all whipped up again.

If you believe that the US would use nuclear weapons on its own people to further a war in Iran, I would simply say that it's not necessary to do so. Much less would suffice.

Here's the reason why. Nuclear weapons have radiation signatures that say a lot about their origin--and once they've been detonated, anyone with the right equipment can determine that signature. It's just too obvious.

The administration simply had to lie to the public to convince them of the need for war against Iraq. That's all they need to do again with Iran. Just lie convincingly. Say that Iran is responsible for harboring bin Laden, or coordinating the attacks of 9/11. The public isn't that bright about this, and the press is that compliant.

Why would the administration introduce a complexity which has a much clearer potential to expose them?

I used to deride conspiracy theorists but the last five years have been my comeuppance.

If you want a more fleshed out theory, the nuclear material will come from the former Soviet Union and while the CIA will have their fingerprints all over it, the fear factor and the Republican control of the media will assure that we will believe the "single gunman" theory yet again and that "single gunman" will be Arab - pick your boogieman of the day but Osama will likely be brought up in some form or fashion. It won't be a big kaboom, they don't need that. A dirty bomb will be more than enough to scare the shit out of the sheep.

Feel free not to believe. I desperately want to not believe. I want to be wrong, more than you will ever know, but, it is important to get this out there so that it is less credible that it happened the way they will say it happened.

At least half the people suspect * orchestrated 9-11. We KNOW he invented the justifications for the Iraq war.

War is not popular. It never is if a person is sane. Many have regained their sanity. They didn't realize our video gamers could actually die in combat.

What may well happen (but it won't be popular) is another manufactured event followed immediately by martial law, as predicted by Gen. Tommy Franks in Cigar Aficionado magazine in 2003.

While we have been fighting in Iraq, the Bush administration has failed to follow thru on the post 9/11 recommendations and legislation on intelligence, immigration and security. They've missed deadlines, and failed to fully fund programs.

8. There's Still Bloodlust Out There

How do you fight the current war? By launching the next one. New wars are fun and neat...not like old ones that get ugly. New ones mean we can fly in the B-2s with those nifty "smart bombs" then everyone sits at home and watches as Leslie Blitzer oogles over the "awesome power" of our military. We're all really impressed and think that war is fun and neat and almost as exciting to watch as the final episode of American Idol.

It's not a question of if, but when...these people want power at all costs and if launching another war means distractions enough to steal another 4 years in the White House and in the treasury, they'll do it.

And to the comment that people wouldn't tolerate anther war? I thought that about Vietnam. Boy was I wrong. There's too much money to be made with war in modern America.
