If terrorism is a form of warfare, and warfare terrorizes, what exactly is a war on terror?

Stop trying to bend your brain around something like the "war on terror". You'll only drive yourself insane in the end.

I've never understood that one either.
While we're at it, lets have a war on drugs and a war on poverty and a war on discrimination and a war on loud bass car speakers and a war on ingrown toenails and a war on leaving your garbage can out by the street all day the next day after they picked up the garbage already and that just looks SO tacky.

5. It's the easiest way to avoid the balanced budget amendment...

You see, Clinton actually had the balls to make an unbalanced budget illegal except in times of war.

God I miss that man.

But republicans can't seem to achieve a balanced budget...in fact they can't even seem to make the country run in the black. Just goes to show that, no matter what they say, democrates are sooooooo much better at capitalism.

8. It's bumper-sticker policy

Like the war on drugs and the war on poverty. It's a way of short-circuiting discussions of the merits of a policy by saying, "We're at WAR, man, you're either with us or against us!"

By the way, I have nothing against the war on poverty, but that technique of selling a program is manipulative and dishonest.
