Should Democrats back off the "fraud" comment ?
Senator Ted Kennedy said the war in Iraq was a "fraud" hatched down in Texas. The Repubs have rushed to Bush's defense. However, none that I have heard have contradicted the "fraud" itself - only that the comment was "uncivil" and "over the top". The question is: "Is it a fraud?"

Judging from Bush's own comments that there was never any evidence that Saddam was behind 9/11, and the fact that there have been no WMDs found, and that Colin Powell had fraudulent documents before the UN, and that the story about the Niger uranium was also a fraud, what else should we call it except a "fraud"?

The Democrats should stand together on this issue. It is a fraud. They should not back away from their remarks. Senator Kennedy was absolutely right. Let the Repubs prove it's not a fraud. Because they can't.

Two tons of Semtex and a howitzer couldn't get Teddy out of that Senate seat. He'll die there, snarling and rocking the house. Let the old lion roar.

9. we don't have a media echo chamber like the right does
so the only way to get it heard and heard often - is for a bunch to say it and force the media to cover it forcing the bushies to defend against it forcing the media to cover it... again. Almost as good as rush/sean/bill/faux/etc all saying in concert... Al gore lied about inventing the internet....

1. 9/11 happened. (The "Pearl Harbor" event)
2. The NeoCons used it to convince Uncurious George Bush to attack Iraq
3. Bush Agrees (probably back in mid 2002), they then need a way to sell it. The decide on the WMD approach. (Probably based on very discrete opionion polling)
4. The sell it to the congress and the American People, who buy it hook line and sinker.
5. War.

16. the senator is old enough to know better
than to characterize a theory in this way. He believes that he is as grafted into his seat in the Senate to be able to get away with it.

He probably will. He's gotten away with worse.

He is smart enough to keep the heat turned up with appropriate oratory so I am at a loss as to why he opted otherwise. I can only guess that he feels the Dem chances are sufficiently poor that desperate measures were needed. He really SHOULD know better than that.

33. Whaddayou babbling about?
The FACT is that Bushco perpetrated numerous frauds. That's not theory. Teddy isn't getting away with anything. He's just calling a FRAUD a FRAUD.

Get it? FRAUD.

And the Dems' chances are not only on the rise, but get dramatically better when they start naming things for what they are.

Like Repugs hatching FRAUDs, for instance.

17. Aww, the poor widdle Repubbies think it's uncivil, do they?
Well, tough. I can think of at least 300 military families who would have preferred that the Iraq situation be evaluated honestly, instead of trumped up into a crisis based on greed, falsehood and dubious connections. If it's "uncivil" to call this bloodthirstiness for what it is, then call me uncivil, too. I was never on the "A" list anyway.

25. Keep in mind that it takes strong words to even get through to some people
I think that perhaps some of the Democrats have finally realized that it takes some pretty strong language to cut through all the crap that BushCo puts out.

I give Kennedy a lot of credit for being this gutsy and hope it's an indication of things to come.

We should call it "uncivil disobedience".
