Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 07:03 PM by mopaul
on msnbc's keith olberman show tonight, with substitute host.

i just saw them showing both of these two weepy apologies like bookends to the same story. just short clips, i assume to headline one of the stories covered.

4. Oh, fugh, that makes me sick. Swaggart was a hypocritical a**hole.
Durbin did not do one damn thing wrong. In fact, the way the Repubs reacted only proved his point.

5. Durbin's done.. and he did it to himself.
He should have told the republican trolls to go pound sand. If the holocaust reference was at issue, surely there were sojme democratic survivors who could have bolstered his references, and he should have just shut up..

He got on the apology train, and rode it right into a wall..

11. I agree. If he inteded to attack he should of attacked Bush by name.
"Anyone who didn't know that these prisons were being run by an American Republican Administration, would have thought it was being run by Nazis". He would have been nearer the truth and his words could not have been twisted into an attack on the troops. Instead he target nobody as responsible, and so allowed the Repukes to decide whom he was talking about.

16. I don't think Durbin's done, not by a long shot
and I think this episode will be a total non-factor in Durbin's actual political career.

I say actual, as opposed to media/republican/DU frenzy.

6. an appropriate response.......
.....would be to show Santorum clip using the Nazi example and show his apology: A blank screen

or

Bush's apology that,at best,he grossly underestimated the costs of the war, both in lives and dollars: A blank screen

You get the point.....

12. Nope. It's called "View from Europe:"
snagged it some years ago. Just recently learned how to post a pic and came across it in digging in the dusty cyber-cellar cache.

13. Pretty fucking appropriate unfortunately
Memo to Durbin:

If you get spunky enough again to tell the truth anytime soon, just keep your fucking mouth shut, so we don't have to watch you whimper and whine after the fascists attack you. Get a job as a ribbon clerk at Wal-Mart for crying out loud and give the left a fucking chance.

18. No parallel in those two except for the sobbing
Swaggert was sleeping with the ladies of the night while preaching the gospel to his sheeple. Durbin was just speaking the truth, and probably received some pretty serious threats. He was wrong to apologize, and I'm embarassed for him.

"Oh yea, I need to get re-elected." If it were me I'd probably be doing a "Wellstone" by now.
