The Durbin "apology" is very instructive for understanding media

They saw the same thing we saw on the floor of the Senate. They saw the Repubs make a big scene out of nothing. And what did they do? They followed the dictates of the right-wing attack machine - just like they did during the Clinton impeachment and the march to war. Not one defended Senator Durbin's comments as not "out of line" but very relative and topical to what is happening in Quantanamo. Not one asked if the FBI report was true that Senator Durbin read. They all blasted the "Durbin apology" just like the Repubs wrote it up? What does that tell you? The media is not interested in the truth. They are interested in the same things as the right-wing Republicans. Take notice. They have shown their true colors with no doubts left behind.

That makes sense to me on what the Durbin thing was all about. People going wild on other message boards accusing Dems of not supporting the troops, being evil for comparing bush to hitler, etc.

We had better be ready for the coming onslaught. For the republicans, Durbin was just the appetizer... they're planning a meal of red meat.
