Since it appears the Repubs were so sensitive about Senator Durbin's comments about the alleged torture, we owe it to them to make sure they have defended a righteous cause and have not attacked an innocent man for his comments. The Democrats should request a special envoy of Senators be given permission to visit that secretive base. They should have full access and should be able to talk to any of the guards that are stationed there. And their trip should not be advertised - it should be a surprise. Bush has already said that the press could go to Quantanamo - why not a few Democratic Senators? Senator Durbin would love to see it firsthand, I am sure...
