6,000 Army deserters. Something you won't find in the US press

NDP MP Bill Siksay is lending his support to a campaign aimed at allowing a growing number of American military deserters to find refuge in Canada.
According to the British Columbia MP, the issue resonates with a lot of Canadians.
For example, Siksay told CTV's Canada AM early Wednesday, Canadians are widely opposed to the prison abuse reported at the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay prisons.
"They're (also) outraged at the failure to produce any weapons of mass destruction, since that was one of the main reasons for going into this war," he added.
So far, that support has translated into 15,000 signatures on a petition organized by the community-based War Resisters Support Campaign.<<

Well let's see: Recruiting is in the dumpster and almost six tenths of one percent of Army troops have deserted. Folks are separating and retiring at will and half the active Army Active division strength is bogged down in Iraq with no end in sight.

We're about to get into a shooting war with IRAN and Afghanstan is no where near secure.

Looks like the House passed that Anti-Flag burning amendment just in time.

The irony of this war, which was supposed to show off U.S. military supremacy by beating up on a weak opponent, is that it's going to gut our military and discourage anyone from participating. It's like the last days of the Holy Roman Empire around here.

And when the people of America cant protect their own

This war is unjust, this war is a crime and these 6000 has done no wrong except they do want to be part of something that is so wrong
