DSM losing its legs.
It doesn't have a hook with a barb, IMO. I think we should have gotten the press and Bush to try to come up with documents from the Bush administration that countered the DSM. Where are the presidential orders to the CIA asking that the data be double-checked? Where are the minutes of the meeting(s) where Bush told his people that war must be the last resort? If the Bushies did all of this pre-war planning, show us some of the plans!

It could turn into another WMD search. And just like with the missing WMDs, I don't think anyone is ever going to find any evidence that Bush did his duty as president in a matter war.

1. it doesn't because the media decided it shouldn't
instead the media has decided that runnaway bride, terry schivo, michael jackson, and other irrelevent issues are more important than the bush and company responsible for killing all the Americans and Iraqiis in Iraq

4. Well, those all have hooks.
It's not what you say, but how you say it ... how the story gets told. I just don't think the DSM has the right mix of spices. All of those other cases have sex appeal. The DSM does too, but only if there is something spicy like the prospect of Bush suffering the anger of a duped and mislead nation.

There was a little of that, but not enough to sell papers.

2. hmmm... yeah, we need a SEX angle to hook'm...
BULLSHIT: we had that in spades with the MALE PROSTITUTE and numerous after hours' visits and what we get, nada, zilch.

we need to keep the pressure on, this is only just the beginning and we have made it part of the discussion here at home and we need to press on.

patience + effort = WIN

peace

6. Conyers said it was only the beginning of a long road.
Why would he start lying now?

You hit on the reality of our situation, bpilgrim.

8. Not sex, but a hook.
Bush can't be hooked by sex. He's a Ken doll. But if he can't prove he told people to make war a last resort, that's a lie. And what reason could he possibly give for withholding proof.

I'm not saying that's the only hook or even a very good one, but there has to be one that will stick in Bush.

11. psst...
one of the 'hooks' IS the DSM and it is the beginning of what will be a long process.

look we got hearings goin on now, demands for investigations, even leaders using the F(fascist) word and they aren't just evil DU'ers they are our leaders.

we've come a looong way since 12-12-2000 but we still have a mighty struggle before us but it is going to be up to us, weTHEpeople - same as usual - to FORCE the issues.

DSM is the BEST evidence we've had up to this point no doubt.

psst... pass the word ;->

peace

17. good night gulliver
remember this is just the catalyst, it is a long dirty story that needs to be told and it is gonna take a while and there are plenty more hooks to follow as the story is told and it will be told.

the neoCONs are HORRIFIED to be even having to deal with this so early on... not because of us 'liberal' 'Gullivers' screaming bloody murder but now it's (finally) coming from our reps, in leadership roles in front of teeVee cameras, daily, who are challenging them early into their 2nd term of destruction. :wow:

they even got Rove making the rounds, they are in big trouble this time because Iraq is not going away and therefore this debate ain't goin away. time is on our side in this one... the longer this WAR drags on the worse it is for them and our leaders know it and our capitalizing on that fact.

night bro :toast:

peace

10. my mom
a little background: mom is in her 50's, very progressive and votes democratic, she is a corportate manager and very busy. when I was talking to her tonight on the phone I was filling out one of those congressional petitions about the DSM and she asked me what I was doing and told her I was filling out something for the DSM and she said "what the hell is that?". That was highly depressing and I said "i can't believe you don't know, have you heard anything on the news?" she said "I have been really busy at work. what is it?" right when she asked my brother beeped in on the other line and I told her I would send her a link tomorrow. The thing about this is..that this is not reaching standard busy people that don't monitor news like we do. She knows about Natalie Halloway though. I can't blame her for not knowing, there is simply not enough coverage and she is very busy. how is this going to get momentum?

18. bpilgrim beat me to it.
It's going to take time.

And we have to understand that by hook or by crook or by another domestic attack...they may still get away with it.

That doesn't mean we give up.

9. It's a long fight ..........
my real long term goal is to bring down the bush poll numbers, the DSM was a big shot....... we have to keep pressing, any and every negative thing about this administration will eventually bring them down. Keep chopping at that tree. It will fall eventually. Never give up never surrender. Keep speaking the truth. peace. :)

15. It finally made it into print in....
...my small town, midwest paper, but it was a Sunday op-ed by a liberal columnist; despised by most anyway. What it will do (hopefully) is spur LTTE by the stupid, to which a handful of the courageous will respond.

The mood around here for the past few months, even by a lot remorseful BS* voters, is that it further confirms what they have already come to realize.

24. Everything like the DSM is another nail in his coffin.
I don't think it has gone away. I remember Watergate went through quiet times.

Even if it isn't the silver bullet, it add weight to our arguments against bush and his butt boys in congress and the media.
