"Pilger uncovered video footage of Powell in Cairo on February 24, 2001 saying, 'He (Saddam Hussein) has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbours.'"

If he can't "project conventional power against his neighbors", he sure as hell isn't a threat to the US.

2. That's what pisses me off

As a war advocate, I'm extremely pissed off that we were lied to that the threat was "imminent" and that's why we couldn't wait for UN support. Granted I didn't believe that there was an imminent threat but I think a lot of the American people did.

3. I just don't get

why this stuff isn't huge news. I realize that BushCo controls most of the media, but this blows a hole in the entire basis for war in the first place.

The same people who were claiming Iraq was such a huge threat after 9/11 told international representatives that he was no threat mere MONTHS before. This should be front-page news.

7. Well, yeah, on February 24, 2001

Saddam was pretty well disarmed, but that was because Chimpy had been in power for five weeks at that time. Before that, Clinton had failed to disarm Saddam, and subsequent to that, Saddam went back in time (a la the Terminator movies) and got the arms that Chimpy had disarmed him of, so it wasn't Chimpy's fault that Saddam got re-armed, because it was Clinton's doing for not disarming him before, but it wasn't Chimpy's fault he didn't notice Saddam had re-armed himself because Clinton had decimated the nation's intelligence gathering apparatus, and it was only after Chimpy had given his overrich buddies two humongous tax cuts that he was able to do something in late 2002 about Saddam re-arming himself (which wasn't Chimpy's fault, remember) and that's why he had to invade Iraq, and Colin had to say all that stuff to the UN.
