My response to yet another Conservative Idiot (RANT WARNING)

First a little background. The person who sent me this e-mail is a friend of the wife of a friend of mine. She had asked me for help with her resume last year and I still get e-mail from her occasionally. She doesn't know me well, but does know I'm adopted. Here's the article as it appeared in BreakPoint:

Here's the text of the e-mail:

Hi Modem, I knew you were adopted and I thought you'd like this aricle. John told me you were a democrat but i would think an adopted person would be just as pro life as any other Christian. Enjoy!

Here's my response:

Words fail me. I'm an adoptee alright, and a big believer in adoption, but this article has about as much to do with adoption as it does with canned beets. You see, what they're talking about in this article is FROZEN GOO. That's right, not human beings, not babys, not anything other than FROZEN FUCKING GOO. How anyone could confuse these frozen embryos with the hundreds of thousands of LIVING, BREATHING, ACTUAL children who are in need of homes is beyond me. I guess the sort of person who thinks embryo-cicles are people is likely to confuse acorns with oak trees and salmon eggs with sushi. Frozen embryos can remain in that state for decades, but the clock is ticking fast for a toddler in foster care.

I am also confused by the fact that you think this is a "pro life" issue. The article clearly states: "After learning of the Snowflake Embryo Adoption program, they adopted 16 stored embryos; Caleb and Jordan are the result." So what happened to the other fourteen potential children? Are they just sitting around in cold storage too, or were some of them implant "failures" that would have "lived" if left alone? Doesn't sound very "pro life" to me, quite frankly.

And finally, let me state ONCE AND FOR ALL that I am NOT a Xian. I have told you time and time again that I am, in fact, an atheist and I have asked you to stop sending me religious e-mails and inviting me to revivals and such. I know John has also told you that Will and I are both atheists with no interest in your religion, and if he's accepted it why can't you? I have no desire to block you from sending further e-mails, but it really is a bit much to have you shove your religion in my face every couple of weeks. Knock it off.

13. Actually, I got a call from my friend

My friend John called me to tell me that she had sent his wife my e-mail, and that she had forwarded it to him. I asked him what he thought, and he was quiet for a minute and said, "Well, the plural of baby is spelled b-a-b-i-e-s. But other than that, I give it a 9.3"

23. I have a series of emails between my brother-in-law and myself

on this same subject, as I am an atheist and he is a Pentecostal minister.

They are pretty heated and I don't pull any punches. If you guys are interested, I'll post the conversation here, but be warned, I am an atheist and my responses, being entirely disrespectful of the whole superstitious belief system WILL offend christians of all makes and models.
