RNC stands up for Rove; why didn't the DNC stand up for Durbin?
Karl Rove says liberals want to see American troops dead and the RNC http://www.gop.com/News/Read.aspx?ID=5578">backs him up with press statements and research briefings.

Durbin says torture is wrong and our party leaders stand by as he is forced to face the right wing's attack alone. And then he apologizes.

Give me, or any of us DUers, control of the Democratic Party machine for just one day and you'll see a big difference in how things are done.

10. I think it all happened rather quickly.
I do think that the "switch" to discussing Rove's comments today are part of what your looking for. We aren't always privy to coordinated behind the scenes efforts.

15. bull. this was one of their ready-made, stink bombs intended to throw
all of us and the entire nation/world into reaction. Look at his words and see who he's trying to goad into reacting. Defensively, especially. - - - Us.

They have direction and premeditated plans, concocted by repub think tanks. They get professional coaching in how to catapult their propaganda.

We're getting there - and are certainly not gutless.

You don't think Rove went to NY and threw flung his crap out by accident, do you? He was goading Sen Clinton - it's her state, afterall. Make her speak for all Liberals. Whip up more hate Hillary sentiment among the bushbase.

I'm sure his performance was meant to do more than get Sen Clinton out front - it was a save bushco ass, bushco owns 9/11 and it's the Liberals fault, all wrapped in a smelly bow.

16. Rove called Sen Durbin a traitor. Where is the outrage?
This is from a Rove speech reported in the NYT today. "Has there ever been a more revealing moment this year?" Mr. Rove asked. "Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals." The MOTIVES of the Liberals like Sen Durbin is to put our troops in danger?

Rove's (who is a draft dodger) statement that Sen Durbin made his remarks (on Gitmo) to put our troops in danger is just about the most inflammatory statement possible. He should be made to publicly eat those words. Even if the Dems shut down the Senate. There should be no quarter given on this. Enough is enough! But where is the outrage? I don't see it! Repukes made more fuss about Dean calling Republicans "White Christians".

I'm too am sick of hearing that callous remarks will hurt us. How much have they hurt the right over the past 25 years?

Then again, they have the benefit of having the corporate whore media practically following their marching orders... since we don't have that mighty wurlitzer on our side, it might be a bit more difficult to "spin" the issue the way it's spun for the right wingers.

12. Too late
No word from the DNC while the controversy was big news. Nothing, even, on the DNC's blog. Nothing at all except for some words on PBS after the RNC won the spin war, and right as Durbin was apologizing. Too little, too late.

Next time we must hit back harder and faster than they do.

When are they going to start hitting? They are in the right here and they just stand back and let the RNC spout its crap.

9. There's only so much Dean can do
on his own; he backed up Durbin -- it was Durbin's colleagues that sold him out.

13. Where was the rapid response?
No press releases, not even a blog post from the DNC. Is that so much to ask?

11. The Corporate Media will let the RNC do it
While anything remotely controversial that Dean/DNC would say would get painted as crazy, mean, and unfair. The Corporate Media will let the RNC do anything.
