My thoughts on why Rove made sure he said CON/LIB.
He really is smart. He knows that we dems are trying to get the Liberal tag off the party. We wanna be progressives (which we are).

He chooses his language so as to not mention repukes or Dems. Just liberals. Then he waits for all the leaders of the Democrat party to rush out and demand an apology.

Now they can say we hide what we are by the rush to the media to defame him for his words on liberals. Kerry, ect. said they wouldn't admit to being liberal. He now can show how they raced to the microphones to say an apology is needed.

Thus they are liberals. Hate to say it but SMART.

Suzi.

1. Didn't Rove also call dems "nigger lovers?"
Or did he merely infer it?

15. "Nigger" is no longer a socially acceptable term in polite circles
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 11:51 PM by lebkuchen
of discussion, which is why Rove has replaced it with "liberal." The labeling strategy was heavily used by the Nazis, with their use of the yellow stars, pink triangles and so forth. Rove figures, if that strategy can get millions of Jews, gypsies, and "liberals" sent off to gulags in the '30s and 40's, imagine what could happen when that propaganda device is used in tandem with today's technology.

People like Trent Lott and Rove consider liberals "whimpy" because liberals apologized for lynching "niggers." If you ever want to upset the Bushies and their like-minded clones, pay homage to African Americans. Clinton did, frequently, throughout his term, and it annoyed the GOP to no end.

Here's Clinton, when he opened the door to the African American "students" 40 years after they were denied entrance into a white (Little Rock High) school. The Bushies hate this kind of ceremony.

28. Clinton Was a Uniter not a divider. Rove is a NAZI

and it is clear in every word that comes out of his mouth.

I don't know why we are afraid of the word NAZI because in the broader sense of the word,it means to me "a rigid, my way or the high way, I am entitled to own the world, keep pure WHITES in power and keep down the poor and people of color, keep down the WHITES that are LIBERAL and want to be kind and share the world" kind of person.

GWB and ROVE and Cheney and the rest of the NEOCONS/NAZILIKES are just like that, if we don't like the term please give me some more vivid ones.

NEOCON is just too nice and is meaningless to the general public.

Please don't flame me.

5. I didn't see it and didn't want too.
I only know he was smart to use conservatie vs. Liberal instead of Repuke vs. Democrat.

That to me is a showing of smarts.

Who's trying to get the liberal tag off the party?
I'm not. Are you?

"conservative" was once a derogatory term too, by the way, until the mid 60s or so.

"neoconservative" was as well.

Think about how that derogatory quality was neutralized.

2. and Fox picked right up with it with a "fair and balanced" look
at the FEW groups opposed to war in Afghanistan and painting all of the liberals in that camp. It was interesting that they showed protestors and didn't call them anti-war activists, but anti-war liberals. Is this what Pat Buchanan is?

3. This Is Called "Red Meat"
A lot of what Rove's said is to keep his own house in order. Talking tough and using the time-tested buzzwords and themes is what's worked over and over again for him and this regime, and this is what he's trying to do again.

Repugnicans are splintered but not fractured. There's a lot of rumblings, but the rupture hasn't occured...and Rove's trying to make sure that doesn't happen with some good-old Repugican Democrat bashing.

Remember, Democrats, and liberal in particular, have been painted for 20 years as whiners and any reaction plays into this stereotype...Rove wins. Especially if he doesn't appologize, which he won't.

Yep, Bunnypant's approval numbers are down, but who cares, the game is now shifting to 2006 and the strategies are being put into place to label the Democrats as the ones responsible for all that's wrong with Iraq. This, along with Chenney's remarks, were the first salvo.

11. I am not trying to say he is right(well I am).lol but he is framing it
as liberals(not democrats). Its all good for them!!

Say the word, liberal that they wanna hide. Then he got em all running for the mics.

All I am saying is he is good at what he does and he made many who say they are not liberal to run to defense.

Sorry but that is smart.

17. No Need To Appologize, You're 100%
You're seeing it for what it is. Rove is smart and knows how to pull chains and play games that now almost work automatically. That's because the GOOP has spend years in crafting a message that has demonized Democrats and liberals to the point where they don't fight back, that they seem ashamed of who they are.

I've always called myself a Progressive (from the 60's on forward)...and used to drive the wingnuts crazy when I said I wasn't a liberal I was a Progressive. I wasn't running from the label, since I don't consider myself fully aboard of what a "liberal" should be...but I do relate to Progressive concepts and ideals. I believe most Democrats do...and when that word is used against Repugnicans they don't know how to counter it.

It's time we mobilized the English language and our intellect and start answering these lies and deceptions or the stereotypes will only grow stronger.

I don't care what other people think of the word. I think it's a very good word.

And I doubt that Rove composed his words so that the sheeple in this country would follow the logic train that you took to get to the "thus they are liberals" part. Rove's slur on liberals was much more basic than that, it was just cheap trash talk like what you'd hear on Rush Limbaugh's show.

7. Karl Rove is not smart, he is simply in a powerful position
Making the assumption that powerful men are smart is a mistake. The world is full of them and they don't impress me. As for his meaning, the repub's have dropped the designation, Democrats, and had done so since long before the election. Neither party stands for anything now, merely words of stereotype---conservative or liberal.

An apology is needed but not expected from those of us who have long watched this little Prince swagger and swish about. Sure, he looks smart now....

Imagine a senior advisor of the President of the United States acting like Mr. Popularity on the playground. No, this guy is not impressive.

Combat vet too.

It seems like "conservative" is a derogatory term to me.

Conservatives like Rove seem to be the ones who love to avoid war and military service, and then insult those who have served. Fuck them.

I'd like to see Ratface Rove say that shit to my face. I'd smear the floor with that pasty little wimp.

13. Could it be this is the typical
Republican tactic. Take their problem or failure of the moment
do a pivot. Quickly start smearing Demorats as being worse than they are.

Right now the war is bummer for Republicans. You have people such
as Lindsay Graham of SC. saying "I am from a very patriotic state, yet my constituents are complaining about the war."

Using typical tactics, start attacking nDemocrats as being soft in Miltary Affairs, soft on war.weak on forein affairs.

In other words, we(Republicans) might have problems but you do not want these weak-kneed Liberals in charge of the country.Scream
loud and clear--The Democrats are not capale of handling these issues.
but give the message with a smear job.

This is exactly the tactic Bush used on Kerry. The campaign for 06 and 08 has begun.

Just a thought.

16. an attempt by liberals to change our name is the problem......
Karl Rove came to the mike in a sense of panic. His house of cards is coming apart and there is no way he can build it back, so he resorts to the old tactic of using the out-of-date focus group quips to try and stop the hemorraging.
Call him "smart" if you want to Suzie. I call him toast.

to allow them to take the word liberal and demonize it. I don't think KKK Rove is smart. Just my opinion, though. I think he's ruthless. Most decent people could way outdo him on strategy, but they would have to be without a conscience.

That's all he has going for him, imo, a lack of morals.

And when is the prosecutor in the Valerie Plame case going to arrest and indict him?? How long does an investigation take? I'm sick to death of all this. Karl Rove is the prime suspect for that act of treason. Yet, he's still walking around!

Bush Sr. fired him because even by his questionable moral standards, Karl Rove's unethical behavior was not acceptable.

26. Liberal is a great word in the rest of the world. As to Rove's use of
words - of course he doesn't want to offend some Dems. He assumes some of them will be voting in the elections he runs for the next 20 years. And as we know, he barely has enough votes for a majority..if that. So he is still counting on a few moderates. People in AA churches, Latino grandmas, libertarians, moderates, ...why would he want to label those Dems as the enemy. He wants to lure them to his fold.
