I read somewhere awhile back that experts in the disease now believe it was effecting him the last couple of years of his career as his production started to tapper off. This was the same time he was coming under critisim from other players such as the babe to take some time off because his play wasn't up to par.

Lou Gehrig's Disease is one of the 'for sure' ailments of the Gulf War Syndrome vet. I suspect they were harmed by 2-butoxyethanol or diethylene glycol monobutyl ether. A couple of the solvents/pesticides that they WERE exposed to www.valdezlink.com/same.htm
