Forget the candidates....WE deserve a round of applause!
Edited on Tue Sep-23-03 10:09 PM by khephra
How many of you have stood against Bush from DAY ONE?

How many of you have stood against Bush from 9/11 when it all seemed to go his way, despite the truth?

Aren't you about to cry?

There was a time when we felt so alone....

But now half the country feels like us.

It's too early to celebrate, but we SURVIVED.

We're not locked up in camps.

We're not under Marshal Law.

They lost their shot.

They lost the Culture War.

They May be in Power now.

But we've seen the signs....

We know where they're heading...

and WE WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN.

WELCOME TO THE DEMOCRATIC COUNTER-REAGAN REVOLUTION.

4. Remember when we were the 10% ?
But the people at DU hung in there and kept fighting, sometimes amongst ourselves, but always ready to re-group whenever it was needed. Good job guys!

I used to worrry about bugs...

Once we were a few, but now we are an army.

We WILL win...no matter who the candidate is on the Democratic side.

We WILL.

6. .
I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Will you fight?

....Aye, fight and you may die, run and you'll live....at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies...that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!

Hell, I didn't really understand Vietnam or Iran-Contra until BushCo came in. Once you know the truth about these things, it changes you. I will never let my guard down again. I mean, Oliver North was almost a Senator! ugh!

A funny thing is that these demented morons spent the 90's trying to cement Reagan's legacy. Oops.

They should have just gone away. They shouldnt have tried to kill us all.

10. Screw Bush
We will win

There's no question in my mind...

They're simply un-evolvable...

look at today's UN speech for an example.

Same shit, different day....

eventually the home crowd clues in...

It's over but for the last inning.

15. I feel so optimistic, yet I dare not indulge these thoughts too much yet.
I can still taste the bitter effects of 2002. We have to get those voting machines under control, or the pukes will pull off another coup, I fear. I don't know if they can get away with it, though, considering the number of Americans who are turning against monkey boy.

16. CNN and the like had gotten on my last nerve
Thank god for DU and DUers - real democratic fighting spirit.

I agree with all who say we need to remember - we also need to keep up the work of Kucinich and Dean, of gettting new, young voters engaged again (also CMB and Brother Al).

We need to get the Dem party back on track, too, or help grow the Green party (after electioon 2004).

18. What if they have a fix in?
Whether is an October surprise or just an all out steal?

I agree we have gotten the message out (a broad we, the left in general), but I am still very worried. VERY worried.

20. I remember going to to bed the night of the election
when it became clear that final tally would not be in until the next morning. I remember jumping up and cheering in a Chinese restaurant when the court first ruled in Gore's favor. I remember not understanding why Bush's "irreparable harm" had to take priority over that of the voters when the decision was reversed. I remember being disturbed by the links that Fox had to the Bush campaign and by the disenfranchisement of voters in Florida. And I remember taking heart at the protests on the day of the inauguration and vowing to never referring to him as the president!

22. Keph,
I am going to take your enthusiasm and run with it tonight. After watching the speech today I KNEW it was a bomb, I knew we had hit a real turning point. He had nothing. Only been here a year but been with you all since before the selection. I knew this guy was poison. Thanks for the really good nights sleep I am going to have tonight. We have a lot of work ahead of us but for the first time I feel like we are almost getting traction.
