"I would have been Republican but they wouldn't let me in the clubhouse"
Has anybody heard this line? My stepdad is a 50-something guy from rural Missouri, and when I talked to him today he figured that the whole Clark line about Rove returning calls was a joke referring to this old line. I'd never heard it before, but I'm only in my mid-20s. I did a quick Google search on it though and nothing came up. Eh? Anybody heard this? Maybe I'm outta the loop, or maybe it's just a generation gap thing.

Bah, anyway, just curious. I'm not worried about the actual statement, etc. Don't trust Owens or Holtzman as far as I can throw them, as they're both close Rove associates who have reason to smear the opposition. But that's already been discussed to death here.

1. Interesting suggestion--hope it doesn't
turn into a thread about the stupid accusation itself, which as Josh Marshall pointed out today is without merit.

From the wording I heard, it sounds plausible.

2. Yeah
I don't want to rehash the validity of the statements here. Just throwing out that the Clark line may have been a reference to that old line. I figure a line thrown around by my stepdad from Essex, Missouri, may also make sense coming out of Clark's mouth given his Arkansas roots. My folks are from the Sikeston/Dexter/Essex/Charleston area in southeast Missouri about an hour north of the Arkansas border. Maybe it's a regional thing? Heck if I know. Just thought it was worth throwing out there.
