It's hard to tell with someone like Rove. He an occupational liar who clearly loves his job.
Republicans believe that anyone who disagrees with the Bush Administration is a traitor and a terrorist sympathizer.
That's a overgeneralization, but unfortunately an easy one to make. McCain and Hegel don't feel that way; most of the New England Senate Republicans don't feel that way; Chris Shays doesn't feel that way.
But too many others do.
The last remaining area where Mr. Bush scores high in opinion polls (well, still over 50%) is his handling of the war on terror. Why?
He's completely bungled it. Instead of fighting a war on terror, he's fought a war against Iraqi sovereignty. Resources were taken out of Afghanistan, where the most dangerous terrorists are, to be put in Iraq. The situation in Iraq was never winnable and the situation in Afghanistan is disintegrating.
This is what the Democrats need to bring home:
Bush has not fought an honest war on terrorism and that is why we a losing that war. Invading Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism or national security; Bush and his neoconservative aides knew it had nothing to do with terrorism or national security; they still assert that it had something to do with terrorism and national security long after that has been debunked. They are lying to us now; they lied to us then; they cannot be trusted. They either insist that there is something there that is not, in which case they are incompetent, or are trying to get themselves or their friends rich at the expense of American troops and the Iraqi people, in which case they're crooked.
The best way to serve America's national security is to remove the incompetents and crooks from office now.
If the Republicans want to serve the Bushies instead of the American people and the people of the world, then we will remove them from office in order to remove the Bushies.
