1. The Pagan Christ by Tom Harpur
is excellent, short, informative and to the point - written in Laymans terms. Best of all it does not critisizm christianity but pretty much destroys any possibility of a literal interpretation of the Bible.

2. The Book Your Church Doesn't Want You to Read
by Tim C. Leedom, Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties by Archer.

Also Ken's Guide to the Bible by Ken Smith (for a really simple, thin book).

Why don't you just go to infidels.org, and follow the links to the bookstore (they also have lots of good online material in the 'library' section). Don't leave home without it.

4. King Jesus by Robert Graves
(amazon)Review

"My solution to the problem of Jesus's nativity implies a rejection of tke mystical Virgin Birth doctrine, which no longer has the same force in religious polemics as it had in Justin's day; to the mass of people nowadays the choice is between a Jesus bom in the ordinary course ofnature and one as mythical as Perseus and Prometheus."--From the Author's Commentary

"This is not reading for the easily shocked; it definitely presents Jesus as a sage and a poet, if not divine. It moves, as does all Mr. Graves' writing, at a brilliant fast pace, and with a tremendous style."--Kikus Reviews

6. "Ken's Guide To The Bible" by Ken Smith
I think that's the name. You won't find it in the religion section, but in the humor section. It's very funny, and makes some good points.

9. Almost anything by Bishop Spong
and "Jesus, a revolutionary biography" don't so much say that the Bible is wrong but interpret it differently.

10. The Bible itself is an excellet resource for skeptics
If you really sit down and read it, you'll find so many fallacies, untruths, and holes that your head will spin.
