thinking of the coming 4th of July celebration

at the grocery the other day, I say a sign and jar asking for donations for the fireworks on the 4th. maybe they have asked in past years but I've never seen it.

I declined to contribute. There is nothing to celebrate. america is on it's death throe (you want a throe? here's a real one)

I refuse to celebrate anything american so long as the criminal bushgang is in charge and not in prison.

1. Throw a wake on the 4th of July
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 11:02 AM by liberal N proud
Get a box to simulate a casket.
Drape the American flag over it and put it in your front yard.

Be careful that it doesn't get set on fire by stray fireworks.
:sarcasm:

2. I understand how you feel, however
this is our country and we can still celebrate and be with our loved ones. This is our country and we need to celebrate taking it back from this reckless administration.

3. I hear what you're saying,
but I'm gonna take an opposite approach this year. I will have my family around me for a picnic, watermelon, ice cream and maybe a few fireworks. My thinking is that this may be the LAST Fourth of July before the real, true and inescapable fall of America.

I am going to savor what I have, before everything around me (us) goes right to Hell!

Peace, donsu.

4. I'll celebrate the true America
And everything I know it means. It's my birthday that day, and my husband's too, so we really do have something to celebrate.

Other than that, I'll be hanging out with my husband's massive family in a small Iowa town, watching pickup truck parades populated by kool-aid drinkers and their kids.

5. Our Administration is Wicked
but there is plenty to still love about our country. Don't let them get you down, they just love to spread misery.

6. I'm with ya
and I almost wish I wasn't but I just can't muster up any real celebratory emotions about the US right now. America under Republican rule is nothing to celebrate. It is something to mourn about. The only thing I'm celebrating on Monday is a day off work.

As soon as this evil SOB and his minions are out of power, I have the feeling I'll be wanting to plaster flags all over my house and car, :patriot: but not before.

7. makes me also consider
that we are spending BILLIONS to blow shit up in Iraq, but can't give local governments a few dollars to help celebrate our Independence Day holiday. :wtf:

note: i'm not a fan of the rah-rah celebration of July 4th, but think it shows once more how far out of wack the policy decisions of the government is at the moment....

10. Eh.
For me, celebrating the Fourth of July means celebrating the forces of good over the forces of tyranny, freedom, and the American way.

Which is exactly the opposite of what Bush represents.
