After Rove's comment - I say we out the guy
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 11:54 AM by LynneSin
I've read plenty of articles about the fact that Rove is actually a closeted homosexual. Now before I get flamed, I believe 2 things: First that it's a personal choice of whether or not someone who is gay wants to come out of the closet and of course the second would be that being a gay/lesbian is as natural as me being a straight person.

But Karl Rove and his alleged sexuality, to me, is a hypocrisy at it's greatest form. He's been behind some of the most horrible propaganda out there including his most recent attempts to use the horrors of 9/11 for political gains and of course his fight for the Marriage Amendment which would ban gay marriages

Yet one only needs to do a google search on Karl Rove Gay and you'll find dozens of blog sites and minor news outlets that mention about Karl Rove, Gay Orgies and his close association with known gay prostitute Jeff Gannon.

In some ways I know it's a horrible thing to do but I keep thinking that Rove is still young enough to be doing this job for decades to come. Personally, I think he likes the comparison that many of us have made between him and Nazi Propaganda Leader Josef Goebbel.

If Karl is going to gay clubs and his hiding his true self - I say we tail this pig and expose him for the hypocrite that he is!

Thank you for letting me rant - this recent Karl Rove 'quote' just pisses me off!

2. Thanks for having the guts to say that, Lynn.
I feel the same way. It's great that we accept gays in our society. How can we do otherwise, and be good people. The fact that Karl can't come out and be honest with his sexuality is probably what makes him so mean and evil. You're right on.

Not suspicions, not deductions, but concrete proof!!!

I know a lot of people didn't like the tactics of the Seattle newspaper reporter who went underground on line to snag the Mayor, but that paper knew that's what had to be done to get proof!

He is so EVIL.

But, in order to really nail him someone needs to catch him.
I do believe that Jeff Gannon is either his friend,Scottie's or the Chimps.

Maybe all of the above.

To think that they gay bash makes me so mad!!!!!!!!!
And they have the nerve to put out stuff about Hilliary.

9. Looking at the guy, the only sexual partner I can envision him with
is a vat of crisco and an empty box of ring dings. Maybe when he's feeling extra frisky, he dresses up like little Debbie of the snack cakes fame and cruises.

I'd wager to your average discerning gay man, Rove has got the same level of raw, primal sexual magnetism as, say, Karen Hughes has to me as a heterosexual. And that's even before their noxious politics enter the picture.

Mmmmmmmm!

40. I don't think being gay is a legitimate issue- I think being a hypocrite,
however, is.

When closeted gay Republicans work to advance the extremist rightwing anti-gay agenda, their sexuality becomes a legitimate issue, by virtue of the hypocrisy involved. In my opinion.

18. Rove is the enemy.
The only real question is "will it work?" That is, will "outing" him damage his ability as an R operative? The R conservative base will feel alienated by this kind of news and that may force him into the background.

If there are sources that support these allegations, then the outing will be credible. Ultimately, it doesn't matter whether or not it is true, but only if the claim works. This is war and we cannot pause to think about the ethics of it when there is an opportunity to take out one of their inner circle.

19. I'm sorry but...
Outing Rove won't make any difference and will just make the democrats look bad. I agree with everyone that Rove is a foul man but it's up to him whether or not he wants to come out the closet.

Besides, who cares if he's gay or not? As much as you would like to think republicans care...most do not. This man is a walking time bomb, I say we just publicly call him out every time he opens his disgusting mouth...leave his personal life out of it.

We are better than this.

20. So the American people come to hate him for being gay
instead of being a mass murderer.

The problem with this view about outing someone is that it's using someone's sexuality as a weapon. I know you could say it's using someone's hypocracy as a weapon, but when someone is closeted it's because they fear the hatred and wrath of their family and society, I'm just not comfortable with exploiting hatred and wrath.

but that's me.

30. I think you are partially right
if he was outed, what the public would hate is Rove the homosexual, not Rove the hypocrite. On the other hand, if Rove is gay, I doubt he much fears wrath and hatered - he is just stoking homophobia because it wins votes. I would be the first to cheer the demise of that asshole, but sometimes the means invalidate the ends.

41. The flip side to that is the "We are everywhere" factor. It becomes harder
for the Republicans to openly justify bigotry against gays and lesbians when it is continually pointed out how many comprise not just their rank and file, but their leaders.

Leave private matters out of it. He lies and does it to promote an illegal war. Going after his personal sex life demeans the real offenses and would be hypocrisy for progressives who advocate that gays not be treated poorly because of their sexual orientation.

We can't very well condemn wingers for picking on a persons sexual orientation and then do it ourselves. Stick to the offenses the man commits. Unless underage people, illegal prostitution or any form of coercion were involved, leave sex out of the fight.

edited typo

Rove is a pig trying to control the content and talking points of the news...and getting his message out at the same time.

The fascist do it very effectively...When Cheney says, (paraphrasing here), that if you vote for Kerry, there WILL be more terrorist attacks.

So fucking what if they apologize, or if the media, (highly unlikely) slams them, or they retract their statements...They got the word out to the people they were targeting.

As Rumsfeld did yesterday..."We are winning" (the illegal invasion of Iraq) All they want to do, is just get the statement out there, it'll reach the intended target.

Just as Rove did in his statement...

There has to be a better plan of attack then "outting" some pig-faced closeted, lying, greedy, little slop like Rove!!

27. Worst approach ever IMO
What does his personal sexual preference have to do with anything? Trust me when I say it will come back to hurt democrats.

Look at the response from the Hillary book, most republicans agree that it was distateful.

Once again, let me stress that this will only make democrats look like petty hypocrites, and I urge everyone not to go there. All republicans are not homophobes, in fact most of my republican friends have no problems with homosexuals getting married.

There are some things I believe to be off limits when bashing an opponent:

- personal sex life (unless they do anything illegal involving minors or assualt)
- family
- religion

Think how disgusted we were when republicans were desperately trying to expose Clinton's sex life. It was very desperate and extremely uncalled for.
