SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Only 34 percent of Californians approve of the job bush is doing -- his lowest rating in the state since he took office in January 2001, according to a new statewide poll.

An even smaller group -- 28 percent -- support the bush's handling of the war in Iraq, and 36 percent approve of his handling of the economy, according to a Field Poll released Friday.

The poll found that 57 percent of those surveyed said they believe the country is on the wrong track.
