Pissed as Hell at Rove - Email from a Dem with 2 kids in Army
Daily Kos has this email. Love it. Maybe they can put Rove's pic on the targets!

Listen, I'm pissed as hell at Rove. I am a democrat and have been forever. (I'm 54) ... my two kids who just happen to be in the US Army serving are also democrats. My son and daughter both joined as soon as they possibly could after 9/11.
So far they are both safe from harm (no thanks to Rove...).

My son and daughter both emailed me last night wanting to know just who in the hell the Rove guy is. They both want to plaster his face everywhere around the bases they are stationed. It seems that Rove didn't know that a good percentage of enlisted folk were Democrats. They like to say around the bases that republicans don't volunteer.

Kos add: I went into the Army a Republican, came out a Democrat. It really is a fiction that the military is heavily Republican. And Rove's statements are a slap in the face of every Democrat currently serving his or her country.

2. I believe it is fiction, too
I live on a military base and don't know many republicans at all.

I don't know that anyone I know has even heard Rove's comments. We don't usually talk politics -- too many wives with husbands in Iraq that just don't want to talk about that stuff.

3. Evidently your children aren't welcome in this man's army.
Tell them to come home. (safe).

4. The caller on Randi Rhodes yesterday
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 05:21 PM by lwfern
If you missed it, you should have a listen to the guy, Casey, that called in last night.

6. I heard Casey and it was heartbreaking. I feel so sorry for that
poor man and couldn't stop thinking about him last night. Bless your heart, Casey.

7. I start crying all over again just thinking about that call.
I hope he calls Randi again. His story needs to be told to everyone who will listen. Stories like his could turn things around and help prevent other people's children from dying needlessly. It would be hard to ask him to put himself through that in such a public way again though. It took such strength and spirit to have called at all. I would have broken down in the middle of telling that story. Casey was so dignified and clear spoken.

5. When everything that you are & stand for is a lie, then perception is key
The cons have crafted the perception of a republican military and only republicans as patriots, and people buy into it. That is why I often mention my family's service when I write to elected officials, because I think that many of *them* have bought into the rovian perception of reality.

I encourage all others to speak about you or your family's service when writing to elected officials, media, and LTTEs.
