Bush hating
The media keep trying to create this parallelism between Clinton-hating and the opposition to Bush. I don't buy it.

I don't hate Bush. It's really not a personal thing with me. I think most people think that way. His policies, his maladministration, and his reckless and wreckful disregard for basic American values like honesty, fair play, and open government all offend me. I can't wait to get him out of office.

I think he'd make a wonderful commissioner of baseball, however. It's really not a matter of hating anybody. Bush hating is a misnomer made up by simple minded talking heads in the media and by the Rovistas in the administration attempting to insulate their conservative base from honest criticism of this president's disastrous four years.

I don't think we need to hate on anybody or make up mean-spirited nicknames* for him. He's brought enough dishonor to the name he was born with--quite an accomplishment, if you think about it.

*(OK, Smirky, *, Chimp, Shrub, Pretzels, and Whistle-Ass are all pretty funny. It's just the mean ones I don't like, like anything suggesting he's a Nazi. If you think Bush is a Nazi, you might want to re-read about what real Nazis were like.)

1. I DO hate bush
He's the evil scion of a thouroughly evil family, which made its fortune, at least partially, on funding the Nazi war machine. What's not to hate?

4. I hate 2 people on the planet
One is a really slimy guy who lied his way into his job and proceeded to con his way into cushy contracts and then fucked over his workers and stole people's life savings and never delivered on one single thing he said he would and then absconded leaving everybody else holding the bag.

The other guy is George Bush.

20. Sounds like they're they same dude. And yes, I hate bush, too.
I can't find another word that adequately expresses my total revulsion and loathing. I hate what he's done to this country, the lives of its young people - squandered in Iraq, the lies he's told about EVERYTHING. In fact, I can't think of a thing he HASN'T lied about. I hate that he's turned the Constitution and Bill of Rights upside down and wiped his feet on them. I hate that he's surrounded himself with other evil people who want to overturn everything that progressives have fought for, to advance this country into the shining light it used to be - at least until HE got to the top. I hate that he stole the election, leaving me at a loss - to this very moment - to explain to my kids how one person's vote really does count. I hate how he's bastardized our democracy, and sold us out to his corporate buddies. I hate that he's blown the arms off that poor little Iraqi boy, who also lost his pregnant mom and most of his family in one fell swoop. I hate the example he's set, tarnishing what was once an enviable education (hey, Harvard and Yale, you want THAT on your record?!). I hate how he let 9-11 happen and turned his nose up at the warnings, and the suspicious reasons why he did. I hate that his whole rotten, stinking administration is covering up for every imaginable bait-n-switch shenanigan known to man. I hate that he's surrounded himself with people who are even greedier and more power-mad than he is, and that he was the chief beneficiary of an absolutely satanic machine to discredit the most effective and dedicated and hardest-working President and First Lady our country has ever had. I hate what he's done to our standing in the world, and how the avalanche of international good will was flushed down the toilet by his "my way or the highway" arrogance. I hate what he's done to the English language and the example of mediocrity that he's set for our youth. I hate the bitch what spawned him, because she's where he learned to be hard-hearted, arrogant, spoiled, and mean-spirited. I hate what he's done to a formerly robust economy, and some three million people's jobs. I hate that his arrogance and pig-headedness has made us MORE vulnerable to terrorism, not less, because his policies are the perfect way to win enemies and NOT influence people. And I hate him for being a bully.

I'm sorry. I know it's not right to hate. but I know no other word for it. I hate what he is. I hate HOW he is. I hate what he's done. I see nothing whatsoever that even comes close to be redeeming about him. And he can't even hold his dog properly!

30. Right with ya!
Although I check out the DU every day, I haven't posted anything for several months, but after reading your reply I just had to log in and give you a little applause. Very, very, well said. You hit every nail squarely on the head.
My first insight into this man's shallow and despicable character was his chillingly cruel and juvenile mocking of Karla Fay Tucker when she plead for clemency while he was governor of Texas. The kind of character he displayed then was entirely in line with his boyhood pleasure of ramming a firecracker into a frog's anus and throwing it in the air to watch it explode. Then he'd look for another, and another, till he and his friends grew tired of it. He was devoid of empathy then and is pretty much devoid of it now. Of all the qualities one would attribute to a great leader he lacks all but one. Occasionally he can be bold, but it is a boldness that comes from nothing more than an ignorant arrogance. I could go on and on, but you have really said it best. Thanks for saying it.
P.S., This is a little of the subject, but, if the election was held today, out of the 11 candidates, 40 to 60 million American adults would choose George Bush as their President. Is that scary and depressing or what!?

worse than Bush (so far) but the parallels are there.

And incidentally, I have no problem with saying I hate Bush. I don't think he'd make a good commissioner of anything, but he'd make a great prison inmate.

there's is not one fiber in this fuck of a human being, that truly cares about the 600 plus dead soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, if it were you or your family or friends, nor would he care...this is a person who has no real brains...just does as he is told, (Karl Rove will make it right) believing he's in control and believing what he does is god sent...this is one sick, distorted motherfucker.

Do you believe he cares about your health care, the enviornment, education, workers (you and me) or is is it more important to squeese every bit of our tax dollars for him and his kind? He's there to rape and convince he's there for our best interest.

We are absolute nothing in this mans eyes...do we just keep accepting it?

We are simply pawns, for him to keep passive.

And the only thing he can talk about is terrorist...keep the people in FEAR!

12. The media overlook one important thing
in their attempt to draw a false equivalency between our reaction to Bush and the campaign the GOP waged against Clinton.

We feel as we do about Bush because of things he has done.

The GOP's war on Clinton was always and in every way personal.

Big difference there.

Bush is bad...very bad for what America is supposed to stand for...what he is doing to this country(screwing it over) is also personal....
the mind staggers from the notion that people don't take what Bush and his ilk have done to America as personal....take it personal...take it very personal.

16. I hate him, and proudly so.
I hate him with a depth and passion I have not allowed myself to hate since the very first time I felt what that sort of emotion can do to a person. The sight of him smiling at any given moment automatically makes me wonder who he just consigned to death. He smiles and smiles, that same vapid idiots smile and signs his name to death warrants of all sorts without a second's hesitation.

I hate him so intensely that the mere sight of him makes me feel sick to my stomach, the sound of his voice intensifies that feeling 10-fold. I HATE him for every stupid pointless lie that has ever passed his nonexistant lips, I hate that empty-headed look he wears almost constantly, I hate the way he mangles a language that can be so beautiful when spoken by anyone with any sort of talent and heart for it, I hate the fact that he does everything he does without caring who is destroyed by it.

It's hate, and I wear it proudly. It is my battle fuel, it is the mark of a woman who loves her country and despises anyone who would dare try to destroy it from within, it keeps me fighting, and I won't let it go until he's been swept from our Capitol like the debris he is.

and everything he stands for.

Bush is a black beast sprung from the depths of America's collective national id, puffed up with swaggering arrogance, self-righteousness, and chauvinism; loud and unapologetic in his anti-intellectualism, blind religious fundamentalism, and studied disinterest in the world that lies outside the United States (unless it may be exploited to some advantage, that is).

Bush represents all that is dark, evil and diseased in the American national character, and the sooner the foul cancer that is Bush is excised from the body politic, the better.

Well Said. Tragically true.

"Bush represents all that is dark, evil and diseased in the American national character, and the sooner the foul cancer that is Bush is excised from the body politic, the better. "

This is why it is so difficult for me to "hate" him. I do see that he is representative of all that is dark, evil and diseased in the American character. He is not carrying out this diabolical destruction of all we love alone. He is aided and abetted by the sheeple. To hate him would be to hate half the people in my country, including some in my family. I chose not to do that. Instead, I cry a lot.

33. bu$h-hating is an untapped resource!
Look at how many people continue to be enriched by their hatred of Bill and/or Hillary Clinton. You cannot count the websites, books and videotapes that have plowed millions of dollars into the Murkin economy off of Clinton-hating.

Too bad there's been no study of the effect of Clinton-hating on the careers of Repug politicians, especially regarding any salary increases and possible election losses had the hate not been in place.

And then there's the entire Talk Radio industry. Gad, how many millions does it account for on an annual basis? It could not exist without Clinton-hating.

So you see, there's not nearly enough bu$h-hating going on. There are fortunes just waiting to be made provided that this country gets off its fat ass and begins hating bu$h! It will shrink the deficit, put people back to work and solve the military's manpower shortage for decades to come. It will reduce air pollution and eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.

Wake UP, Amerika! Get with The Hate!!!

34. There is a reason people call him a Nazi
Many reasons, actually.

One, his family had business ties with the Nazis in WW2. These ties continuted even when America was at war with Germany.

Two, he is preparing the country for the onset of fascism.

Three, he is using a climate of propaganda, nationalism, and supposed "national security" to gain more and more control, strip away rights, and help himself.

The Centrist Clark invasion into a progressive enclave.

Used to post at another more mixed board, but got weary of the level of discourse, so I searched for something more progressive that reflected the outrage many on the Left felt. Now the sprinkle of fairy dust seems to have lulled many back into their complacent slumber, with revisionist histories of Bush and endorsement of Clark's Chummy relationships with Perle and Wolfowitz.

Back to square one.

43. Molly Ivins, as usual, covers it quite nicely
For eight long years, this country was a zoo of Clinton-haters. Any idiot with a big mouth and a conspiracy theory could get a hearing on radio talk shows, "Christian" broadcasts and nutty Internet sites. People with transparent motives, people paid by tabloid magazines, people with known mental problems, ancient Clinton enemies with notoriously racist pasts – all were given hearings, credence and air time. Sliming Clinton was a sure road to fame and fortune on the right, and many an ambitious young right-wing hitman – like David Brock, who has since made full confession – took that golden opportunity.

After all this time and all those millions of dollars wasted, no one has ever proved that the Clintons did a single thing wrong. Bill Clinton lied about a pathetic, squalid affair that was none of anyone else's business anyway, and for that they impeached the man and dragged this country through more than year of the most tawdry, ridiculous, unnecessary pain.

"The puzzle is where this depth of feeling comes from," mused the ineffable Krauthammer. "Whence the anger? It begins of course with the 'stolen' election of 2000 and the perception of Bush's illegitimacy." I'd say so myself, yes, it would. I was in Florida during that chilling post-election fight and am fully persuaded to this good day that Al Gore actually won Florida, not to mention getting 550,000-more votes than Bush overall.

The night Gore conceded the race, in one of the most graceful and honorable speeches I have ever heard, I was in a ballroom full of Republican Party flacks who booed and jeered through every word of it. One thing I acknowledge about the right is that they're much better haters than liberals are. Your basic liberal is pretty much a strikeout on the hatred front. Maybe further out on the left you can hit some good righteous anger, but liberals, and I am one, are generally real wusses.
