I'm really feeling hopeful again...
It's so great to see best selling books out by Krugman, Franken and Conason and to hear more people speaking out against that installed moron in the White House. It's been so hard to watch the mainstream press fawn and drool over Bush, the Democratic leadership hide under their beds and all we could do on DU was to help each other get through it with our sanity. I'm finding that I'm not dreading '04 as much, either. Knowing the White House is scared of Clark's entry into the race makes my heart sing. Now, if we can all unite behind whoever is the Democratic nominee, we have a good chance to hear screams of agony coming from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on the Wednesday morning after the election. How cool would that be?

4. I hate to rain on your parade...but...
Either Diebold and the BBV machines will deliver the crown to the prince again

or, The election will be cancelled due to a red terror alert.

Bet on it. These people will do anything to hold power now. Even if it means letting a Republican in Democrats clothing take the WH.

5. And this time do we have any plans for a revolution?
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 02:01 AM by madmax
Or are we going to go quietly into the night as we did in 2000.

The repugs had their forces ready. Hell, they had even booked Wayne Newton to entertain the Gucci clad congressional rioters.

Well, Canada is looking good.

6. Furthermore
Chimpy will be pulled from the ticket if his numbers stay below 50% for a prolonged period. The ruling party is much bigger than just Chimpy. They're not going to roll over and die if he turns into a liability. The opposition Democratic party will then be facing off against a fresh challenger who can't be dismantled on the basis of his disasterous term in office. It need not be said that this would completely disarm any candidate who was running on an exclusively anti-Chimp platform.

8. My husband thinks he'd be replaced by Rudy.
Heard today they're talking about him for Governor of NY. If shrub has to go maybe Rudy will skip NY and head for DC.

9. Ouch.
That would be a problem.

The only real weakness Giuliani has is his lack of experience at the national level. He did a moderately decent job in NYC and is still popular there. He also has the Sept 11 sympathy factor going for him.

11. Uh, Rudy has a "baggage" problem.
Dumped his wife and went to live w/ his mistress. Are these "family values?" I think not.

12. Family values
That will hurt his showing among the religious reich but he'd probably attract enough moderates and swing votes for the opinion of the reconstructionist nutcases to be irrelevant.

10. Bush may be going down too fast..
The way its starting to look with more than a year to go, it might definately behoove the Dem candidates to focus attacks on GOP policies and not the boy.

7. I'm not sure about this but I remember
hearing something that the VNS wouldn't be conducting exit polling.
