Leaders whose children joined the war effort
Princess Elizabeth in ATS uniform in 1945. The Princess joined the war effort at the age of 18 and was based at barracks in Aldershot. At the start of the war she and Princess Margaret were based at Windsor Castle while the king and queen continued to work at Buckingham Palace

If it wasn't beneath Queen Elizabeth, it shouldn't be beneath Jenna and Barbara Bush.

5. Prince Andrew served
He flew a Harrier jump jet during the Falklands.

One of his assignments was to hover his aircraft in front of British ships (including the QE2, converted to a troop transport) as a decoy. Missles like the Exocet would have hit his Harrier instead of a ship. Jet assistaed Russian roulette.

Not exactly a job for a coward, and something that I doubt the Bush girls would even consider.

7. Actually, Andrew was a helicopter pilot.
Decorated for bravery, too. That's leadership by example!

13. say what you will...
the royals served, and understood (see virtually everything they did in WWII to ensure that the British people that whatever the people had to experience the royals would experience) the importance of setting an example.

Britain was bombed. and you didn't see the royals banging from coast to coast in a frickin' plane trying to find a "safe" spot to land.

and BTW... is that a chicken standing in the door of the truck next to her?

That's great about the royal family and how they were with that. I know the military isn't for everybody (definitley not me) but you would expect that your leader wouldn't send other families kids to die for a lie and your private investiments while your kids are off partying and doing nothing. I'm not sure what that is at the door.

17. I can't see a chicken
:D

It's so funny, because a chicken-related dustup occured in the Lounge a couple days ago :D

Back to the subject -- the Royals refused to leave the city during the bombing of Britain -- they were determined to set an example, and project strength and unity to their people.

16. And don't forget that Princes' Harry and William
are embarking on military careers as well.
I think it is a sense of duty to their country..or something like that...something the Bushes can't fathom.
