Anybody see the G8 movie?
My dad was watching this movie earlier on HBO and it looked pretty good. It's about the G8 counsel. There was also some romance in the movie. To find out more about it check out http://www.hbo.com/films/girlinthecafe/interviews/index.html

I'll have to catch it and was wondering if anybody else saw it.

1. excruciating build up to"romance" in first scene...going to tape it
later, though

the guy is, what 25 years older than the girl; if the rest of movie is that realistic, well...

2. It's called The Girl in the Cafe.
I thought it was excellent on so many levels.
You could see how excruitiatingly lonely the
older man was and how his life's path hadn't turned
out exactly as he had imagined. Even choosing
to sit with a much younger girl maybe was a
choice to recapture some youth. She turned out
to be a surprise to him and his British colleagues...
some of the 8 sitting around the world's table
making crucial decisions such as ending poverty
in their (our) lifetime.

This is a must watch, especially for those of
you who don't think one person can make a difference.

Wouldn't it be incredible to have redirected
$300 billion to eliminate poverty in our lifetimes
instead of create more hate, terror and death.

6. I saw it last night. Very moving.
I like how after she spoke out at the dinner, the next day he stated something to the effect of "we have a chance to act like the men we all dreamed we would be when we were younger & yet did not become." (ok, he said it much better, but you get the idea.)

And close to the end when she tells him why she was in prison & he asked, "your child?" & she responded, "does it matter whose child?"

Every day I think about how much better that $300 billion could have been spent. The thugs in the white house should be brought up on charges against humanity.

Here is my post. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=3951606&mesg_id=3951606

I highly recommend it! In fact I am addicted to the writer who also wrote Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Both I have seen numerous times.
