Blast from the past: the post-9/11 polls. Interesting snapshot
of an attitude... http://www.pollingreport.com/terror9.htm

A couple of tidbits...pay particular attention to that first one!

"If a military invasion of another country using ground troops becomes necessary to punish those responsible for Tuesday's attack, would you favor or oppose the reinstatement of the draft?"

Favor 66%
Oppose 28%
Not sure 6%

"The United States is saying that it is fairly certain that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon last Tuesday. Bin Laden is an exiled Saudi militant with extreme anti-American views who is allegedly being protected by the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. If it is determined that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the terrorist attack, do you think he and his organization will be caught and brought to justice or not?"

Will be 70%
Will not be 19%
Don't know 11%

"How confident are you in the ability of the U.S. government to find and punish the people responsible for these attacks? Are you very confident, somewhat confident, not too confident, or not at all confident?"
9/13/2001

Very confident 65%
Somewhat confident 30%
Not too confident 4%
Not at all confident 1%
No opinion -

2. No draft needed if all those stupid people would just sign up.
But I'm sure they meant 'if someone else was drafted'.

3. Another incident on order.
Interesting to note that I am among 1% of the people answering this poll (last question), but 19% in the second.

4. Good call!
Even today they wouldn't include "Won't bother looking for him at all" as a choice, though it should be.
Imagine the hooting if they'd included it back then!
