Military families fight back against Rove. Start website.

"Veteran: I'm a Liberal Because of What I saw. Rove Should Resign.
From the mailbag:

I served in the Marines in the infantry from 1986 to 1991, and I saw combat in Panama and the Persian Gulf. And I'm a liberal. I'm a liberal precisely because of my service and because of my experience.

Karl Rove is too obtuse to understand the complexities of the issues of which he so cavalierly speaks. Yet he is all-too-willing to sacrifice the lives of American service men and women in the name of his simplistic merry-making with U.S. foreign policy and militaristic shenanigans.

I am most upset with Karl Rove's insipid declaration that anyone who didn't feel the need for blind revenge is somehow less than patriotic. I understood my service to my country to be based upon the belief that we would uphold the American ideal that we will always seek to set the standard for the rest of the world to follow--liberty, humanity, civility, forthrightness, and dignity. Mr. Rove's comments besmirch anyone who seeks to have those ideals upheld.

Like Richard Nixon, Mr. Rove is a disgrace to the United States, is a stain upon American history, and serves no useful purpose within the public discourse of rational persons.

Mr. Rove needs to resign immediately. An apology is not sufficient to assuage the insult he levied upon America, nor can his continued service within the administration be tolerated."

I found it on Daily Kos

"Pissed off military liberals fight back against the Rove slander."

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/25/223415/525

This would be a good thing for the press to know about - send it off to them. The WH will have a harder time defending themselves against the quotes of soldiers and Vets then from Democratic politicians.

6. This wonderful
I wish these guys could get on RW radio and and make asses of those blowhard windbags. They are calling everyone with objections to Iraq unpatriotic as well. All their callers sound like they listened to a talk at church and were encouraged to call with their indoctrination lesson.

Have a son in military - voted for Kerry. What's he supposed to do? Go hide? Wish he would actually. Can I swap him out somehow for one of these Republican ChickenHawks?

10. Hey DU Vets....
GO GO GO !! I'm gonna ask my dad to post on here -- he's an Air Force vet, he hates what BushCo and the neocons are doing, using our service people for personal gain -- and using blind, misdirected FEAR to sway the American people. They have shamed us all!!

11. DU Vets
as I recall outnumbered Freeper vets by hundreds when on Veterans' Day both sites had a thread honoring them.

I know the last time I had checked that thread on DU there were hundreds of posts from Vets. How dare he say that only Republicans are ready for war!!

Karl Rove insulted every one of them ~ and the country should be told that he himself was not 'ready for war' when his country needed him.

He is another Chickenhawk, slamming every Democrat who ever served their country, while he and his chickenhawk administration did everythign they could to hide.

Rove's remarks should have the media (if we had one) pointing out that it's ironic to say 'repubs are ready for war' considering the CIC was AWOL and no one in the administration ever went to war! You can bet that if this were Clinton, that's all we would hear for years.

What a great idea that site is. Let Rove hear from some real, patriotic Democrats and Liberals, who really do care about this country. They should ask to meet him, and let him repeat those words to some real American patriots, in person.

He needs to go!! Rumsfeld (does he still use a machine to sign condolence letters to the families of dead troops?), Wolfowitz (has he found out yet how many soldiers have died), Cheney (is lying to send others to die the 'better things' he had to do which kept him, too, from going to war? They all need to go, they have destroyed this country.

12. I sent in a letter
As a veteran who has worked in military intelligence and counterintelligence under three presidents, regardless of their politics, I find Rove's comments to be not only offensive, but also grossly negligent in their description of conservatives. Conservatives did indeed look at the attacks and prepare for war. What Rove neglected to say was that they prepared for the wrong war. A more accurate statement would have been "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and immediately saw it as an opportunity to justify their existing PNAC plan of invading Iraq, although Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11." He should have also clarified that while liberals were determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice, conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and announced that they really weren't that concerned about finding bin laden.

The most telling statement that Rove didn't make is that conservatives saw the warnings of the savage attacks of 9/11 and chose to ignore them.

14. Here's mine...
Karl,

What the hell have you done in service of this country? I'm a proud
liberal and a vet (US Army 91-95). Back when I first took that oath to
defend this country against all enemies, foreign and domestic, I never
understood what a real domestic enemy to this country could be. Thank you for showing me.

You could never understand what it means to serve this country, or to shed blood for it.

Really trying to keep this clean, but basically sir. Go f*** yourself.

15. Thank you both for your service
Those are two great letters ~ :patriot: ~ :patriot:

I see he's trying to spin what he said now into 'I was talking about Moveon.org'.

He must not be allowed to do that. He twisted the words of Sen. Durbin in that speech, and that also needs to be addressed, when he claimed that Sen. Durbin had called our troops Nazis. Durbin did NOT do any such thing. How CAN they lie so blatantly??

Forget that question, I know the answer. The press allows them to lie! Does he think that attacking Moveon.org as unpatriotic Democrats is any more acceptable than what he did say?

But it's obvious that the outrage is getting to him, since he is trying to deny his attack on Democrats and Liberals now. He's too cowardly to even acknowledge and stand by his own, vicious and premeditated words.

How does it feel, Karl, to have your own tactics turned against you now? Only without the lies? He didn't expect this backlash, because he's so used to lying and spinning and cheating and getting away with it. He should have stayed in his hidey hole. The country is getting a close up look at him now, and who is behind this administration.

They had to be getting desperate to send him out to try to save Bush' presidency. The man who may be the traitor who outed an undercover agent. A crime, Bush Sr. called 'treason'. When will that case be solved? Bush promised to quickly 'get to the bottom of the Valerie Plame outing' also, nearly too years ago.
