Rep. John Spratt, a Democrat from South Carolina in C-Span now, just used Democrat to refer to the Democratic party... I guess he is being co-opted by the Republican version of the English language.

3. i asked, a couple weeks ago, if this was a regional thing because

it's very common around here, as in 'vote democrat' in campaign ads.
since the congressman is from SC and i'm from PA, i guess it's usage it not exclusively a PA thing. maybe it's generational or maybe a rural/urban difference?
