Bush Post U.N. Plans: Now what?
Chimp has gone to the U.N. Having given the world body his finger, what's his next viable option? My imagination has reached its limits on this one, maybe you could think of some of the bizarre scenarios the cartel in the white house might come up with.

1. Do or Die
They're going for broke. They're going to keep what they were really after, control of oil and "re-building" contracts for American companies. The rest will fall where it will.

That probably means a few thousand more foreign troops and a couple extra billion dollars. From there, its a mad dash for an unseen finish line. The administration is putting it all on the line.

If things calm down a little, if some evidence of progress can be shown, that's all they'll need to assert that their policies are working. If things don't improve, they're toast.

2. What was not said
by the talking heads yesterday, is that Bush went into that speech knowing there wasn't going to be any kind of meaningful resolution from the security council becasue the two positions are so polarized.

What they expect to happen is that a very mamby-pamby resolution will be passed and that countries who want to send either troops or money voluntarily will do so under the political cover of this vague resolution. Hence, Bush will claim a victory.

btw: the only way other countries will send troops will be if they are bribed to do so....THAT you won't see in any papers (unless Kennedy continues to raise hell about it)
