Virginia 2008: Mark Warner 46%; George Allen 41% (Rasmussen)

A recent Rasmussen poll shows that if the 2008 presidential race in VIRGINIA were today, Mark Warner would beat George Allen, 46-41

In VA, Allen would beat Hillary 50-41. Hillary would only win 79% of Warner's voters and Allen would win 15% of Warner's voters against Hillary.

Even Bill Clinton never won in VA (although he did come close). Imagine a dem winning in VA! He would sweep the south, and win a large electoral college victory.

1. Warner or Clark would do better than H. Clinton
anywhere in the South. Clark would do better than her in both the South AND the mid-west.

I won't support Warner because he attended Bilderberg and I'm tired of being a plaything for the rich, but this is a "no shit" kind of poll.

2. the worry with hillary
is that this plays out nationwide, that in the south and rocky mountain states she loses, and the worst case senerio happens: another tie which the dems lose. the only governor who ran in 04 was dean, when the best dems are southern governors. I think the 08 crowd will be the strongest the dems have had in a very long time.

3. I hate these kinds of polls!
Because they don't put any enough candidate combination against each other to see what would happen.

To begin with, Both Allen and Warner are relative unknowns next to Clinton.

Plus, Allen, in my esteemed opinion is a long shot. He fits the criteria, but doesn't have the "presence" to pull it off. So putting two of our potential candidates against one of theirs is a stupid thing to do.....and has no real revelance, even on it's face.

These polls have shown a lot of results in the past that ended up incorrect.

This poll story is there just to give Mark Warner a boost as the alternative to Hillary...which is part of the game the press is playing. They are manipulating public opinion......slowly, but surely.

The chosen ones thus far, from our side....are Hillary and Warner.
(I will say that Warner will not do well with the AA community...from the rumblings I have been hearing, i.e., the Warner/Wilder feud).

It's as obvious as a nose on the face.

4. Well, it is a Virginia poll, so the playing field is a little more level.
Virginians know who Clinton, Warner and Allen are.

The rest of the country doesn't know who Warner and Allen are, however.

But, I do agree that the media is trying to find someone, anyone, to be the anti-Hillary who ISN'T Clark, because Clark would bring in Independent and disgruntled Republican votes in 08 - cutting off any fundie candidate the Republicans come up with at the knees.

5. Well, it goes without saying that they will never come up with Clark

on their own...unless he's the last candidate running!

That's one of the reasons that I support Clark....cause "they" don't. They don't want us thinking out of the box, in particular, with someone that could actually win the whole sheebang! That's not the game they want to play....and not the type of conventional wisdom they are willing to put out there.

They'd rather give us a 1992 quality candidate without the charisma, or a candidate with a 1992 name....then a 2008 candidate who can kick ass in foreign policy and National security....and give us what we need--restoration of American credibility around the world and at home...and someone who could actually find the money for the programs that most of these Democratic candidates will be proposing (but won't have the funds required to actually pay for any of what they propose) within the pork of the Pentagon.

Sad, really. For us!

6. Rasmussen polls are crap
They use automated push button polling. A human being is not on the other line. This weeds out a lot of potential respondents.

7. Of course, Clarkies hate this good news.

It shows Warner's strength as a candidate, in spite of remarks about national security experience. The only thing people have on Warner is conspiracies about the Illuminati.

9. If Warner didn't have strength in the state where he's the Governor,
it would be surprising.
