The Congressional Black Caucus.

When I went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 last summer, I was struck by the members of the House of Representatives who tried, one at a time, to help Al Gore. Each of them stood up there and tried to get just ONE Senator's signature. They were passionate, heartfelt. I still can't see that scene without tearing up. I believe they were all members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Then I see the pictures of John Conyers, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Barbara Lee marching up Pennsylvania Avenue to deliver those signatures, thousands and thousands of them, two of them mine and my husband's. And they are all members of the CBC.

I have noticed the hardscrabble fight for what is right in Congress that has been and is being undertaken by the Congressional Black Caucus.

And I thought they deserved a loud, long thank you from me and from whoever else here feels so moved.

The members of the Congressional Black Caucus are true fighters. They are there fighting for our values and our interests when others cave in to political cowardice.

I've....kinda....noticed that. When push comes to shove, you can count on the CBC to be right there, fighting tooth and nail for what's right, for the American people.

And I admire that more than words can say.

It makes me cry every time I watch it. It's nice to know that Fahrenheit 9/11 1/2 will have a much different opening.

4. And don't forget their truth nights - Tuesdays on C-Span. They are

joined by others and it is always poignant. It is a night to know that some of our leaders care about the country.

The Black and White Caucus is the best thing going.
