10. Maybe anti-depressants, but the man has NPD
Everything you have listed points to a malignant narcissist - a pathological personality who may be further self-destructing by the day.

His suppressed rage is at us - the American people who are growing to hate him. (How DARE we hate him! How DARE we disagree with him!)

His arrogance stems from a little boy who became a man never having been held accountable for his damaging actions.

His discomfort in his own skin is his self-hatred. The man hates who he is, wishes he were more, and falsely postures himself daily to fool everyone into believing he is a Christian man and a strong leader.

Read up on NPD. You'll learn more about Bush than you may even care to.

Writer.

I really think you are spot on. I think it's becoming obsessive with him now. He seems to do whatever he thinks will piss the majority off. His hatred is particularly vicious since the election. He hates us for voting Kerry, probably even knows that he lost the popular vote. So he'll do whatever to spite us..even if it destroys the country in the process.

I really think he's a sick man.

Just like some of our "sports heroes" act, yes? We see it all the time: People who fail, and rather than having to suffer the consequences, are offered opportunities to fail on an even larger scale.

You nailed it with this post.

12. NPD is Perfect!
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 07:05 PM by BrklynLiberal
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a pattern of self-centered or egotistical behavior

1. An exaggerated sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

Translation: Grandiosity is the hallmark of narcissism. So what is grandiose?

The simplest everyday way that narcissists show their exaggerated sense of self-importance is by talking about family, work, life in general as if there is nobody else in the picture. Whatever they may be doing, in their own view, they are the star, and they give the impression that they are bearing heroic responsibility for their family or department or company, that they have to take care of everything because their spouses or co-workers are undependable, uncooperative, or otherwise unfit. They ignore or denigrate the abilities and contributions of others and complain that they receive no help at all; they may inspire your sympathy or admiration for their stoicism in the face of hardship or unstinting self-sacrifice for the good of (undeserving) others. But this everyday grandiosity is an aspect of narcissism that you may never catch on to unless you visit the narcissist's home or workplace and see for yourself that others are involved and are pulling their share of the load and, more often than not, are also pulling the narcissist's share as well.
<snip>
Another example is claiming unusual benefits or spectacular results from ordinary effort and investment, giving the impression that somehow the narcissist's time and money are worth more than other people's.
<snip>
"When the narcissistic defense is operating in an interpersonal or group setting, the grandiose part does not show its face in public. In public it presents a front of patience, congeniality, and confident reasonableness."]
<snip>

2. Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

Translation: Narcissists cultivate solipsistic or "autistic" fantasies, which is to say that they live in their own little worlds (and react with affront when reality dares to intrude).

3. Believes he is "special" and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

Translation: Narcissists think that everyone who is not special and superior is worthless. By definition, normal, ordinary, and average aren't special and superior, and so, to narcissists, they are worthless.

4. Requires excessive admiration

Translation: Excessive in two ways: they want praise, compliments, deference, and expressions of envy all the time, and they want to be told that everything they do is better than what others can do. Sincerity is not an issue here; all that matter are frequency and volume.

5. Has a sense of entitlement

Translation: They expect automatic compliance with their wishes or especially favorable treatment, such as thinking that they should always be able to go first and that other people should stop whatever they're doing to do what the narcissists want, and may react with hurt or rage when these expectations are frustrated.

6. Selfishly takes advantage of others to achieve his own ends

Translation: Narcissists use other people to get what they want without caring about the cost to the other people.

7. Lacks empathy

Translation: They are unwilling to recognize or sympathize with other people's feelings and needs. They "tune out" when other people want to talk about their own problems.
In clinical terms, empathy is the ability to recognize and interpret other people's emotions. Lack of empathy may take two different directions: (a) accurate interpretation of others' emotions with no concern for others' distress, which is characteristic of psychopaths; and (b) the inability to recognize and accurately interpret other people's emotions, which is the NPD style. This second form of defective empathy may (rarely) go so far as alexithymia, or no words for emotions, and is found with psychosomatic illnesses, i.e., medical conditions in which emotion is experienced somatically rather than psychically. People with personality disorders don't have the normal body-ego identification and regard their bodies only instrumentally, i.e., as tools to use to get what they want, or, in bad states, as torture chambers that inflict on them meaningless suffering. Self-described narcissists who've written to me say that they are aware that their feelings are different from other people's, mostly that they feel less, both in strength and variety (and which the narcissists interpret as evidence of their own superiority); some narcissists report "numbness" and the inability to perceive meaning in other people's emotions.

8. Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him

Translation: No translation needed.

9. Shows arrogant, haughty, patronizing, or contemptuous behaviors or attitudes

Translation: They treat other people like dirt.

48. Do you realize that maybe for the first time, an NPD has actually achieved
the fantasy that all NPDs dream of, power, glory, most important person on earth.

Think about it, one of the basic elements of NPD is that the person believes that he or she is unique and special, entitled to special recognition and privilege, because they are inherently superior (many because they are extremely intelligent, but I think Bush knows he's not bright, and he's dumb enough to think he's entitled by birth). They are often criminal, mean, manipulative, deceitful, because they feel entitled to be that way. And much of their destructive behavior is rationalized in their mind by what they percieve as the grave injustice of the failure of the world to recognize their greatness. So, most NPD's are only sorta-succesful, often hopping from job to job because they can't take orders and usually get in trouble quick. They feel personally aggrieved at the world's failure to recognize their greatness, and this leads them to vengeful behavior, i.e., stealing at work because the boss doesn't recognize their talents and reward them as they thinks they should, cheating on spouses, chronic lying.)

GW's case must be unique, a person who has delusions of granduer and special merit, actually achieving the highest position on earth. What does this do, imagine it. A person with NPD, who actually achieves the fantasy of people with NPD, the fantasy that they are better, deserve to be recognized and in charge, etc. And surrounded by toadies who tell him what every NPD dreams everyone should be telling them.

Wow.

Its doesn't seem to have satisified him, at any rate, he is unhappy with anything less than absolute uniform worship.

25. Yep. My theory on this still stands: how many times have you
injured your FACE by falling in your entire life?

Go on, anyone reading this, count.

I bet very few people have even done it ONCE unless they did it because of seizures or drunkenness/drug-intoxication.

Normally, the human instinct is to throw out the hands to protect the face. You can't STOP that instinct unless something is misfiring or deadened in the first place.

More than one facial injury from falling is REALLY suspicious.

31. An interesting theory. I have never fallen on my face, and I'm 54
years old, ride bikes, go hiking, etc. I've ripped up a knee or two and scraped my elbows, but I have never hurt my face. In the past 5 years, nimrod has somehow hurt his face at least four times that I remember: the pretzel incident, the biking on the ranch incident, an unexplained incident where he later appeared with bandages on his face...and one other time, seems to me. The guy is a walking disaster, and there has to be some psychmotor or medication reason for it.

I agree with you and the other respondents to your post.

I fell once (don't ride the skid!) and broke or pulped every joint from the waist down on my right side, and every joint from my fingers to shoulder on my left side, and not a mark on my face.

Five or six years earlier, I was hit from behind by a car (while riding a bicycle), flew twenty feet through the air, multiple injuries, not a mark on the face.

Hit by cars while riding twice since then, hospitalized both times, no facial marks.

Playing football for years, ditto.

Climbing mountains, ditto.

You're on to something.

54. Just basic human physiology.
I remember reading years ago about a study some scientists did in which they tied the subjects' hands behind their backs and then put them in situations where their faces were in danger of being injured (they weren't going to ACTUALLY be injured, though, that would make the study unethical) and they placed electrodes on the subjects' arms to measure the strength of the reaction and it was off the charts. The muscles in their shoulders and arms fought SO HARD to rise up and protect the face, but since they couldn't, they would sort of double over at the waist. Humans will do ANYTHING to avoid injury to the face. Anything.

So facial injuries that aren't caused by someone else hitting you unaware (with a fist, for instance) are always suspicious, especially when they have happened to a person more than once. It just isn't normal.

As he gets drowsy from his alcohol, or coke, he may get drowsy and suffer a seizure which will result in a temporary loss of consciousness and he may suffer a fall. That would explain his facial lacerations.

I think he is on anticonvulsive drugs like Neurontin or Depakote for his problem.
