Did anyone see this episode last night? I normally love this show, and AS A SHOW, it was still excellent last night. However, I felt that it was "inspired" and not in a good way from the schiavo case.
SPOILER ALERT (don't read further if you haven't seen it yet) ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;; ; ; ; ; ;; ; ;
Jonny meets a female fellow psychic who is being "guided" by a small boy, trying to prevent his father from assasinating people. Just in the nick of time either or both psychics foil the assasinations attempts. What is troublesome, however, is that the boy is brain dead in a hospital, and the insurance company is no longer willing to pay for his care, and someone wants to pull the plug (I'm a little fuzzy on who that was, the hospital or the insurance co.). At any rate, the DOCTOR is adamant he is brain dead, the father wants to kill people who advise them to pull the plug. In the end, the would-be assasin father becomes the SYMPATHETIC character, and Jonny tells the mother its in God's hands....and that the body might be dead, but the "heart" is alive....implying the soul or the mind, not sure.
anyhow, I found bile rising up in my throat as I watched it because it was so clearly taking the POV of the schindlers and randall terry, including the notion that assassinating people who want to remove the plug is somewhat glorified as an understandable response.
grrrrrr
